It's not against the rules, but keep in mind that you are asking for a lot of work from someone that doesn't know you. Be polite and try to show what progress you've made so far, no one wants to make a terrain for a map that isn't even started. You have probably a much bigger success rate if you finish your map (with your own terrain) and then asks if someone wants to help you improve the terrain.

Question 1 : What type of map it is ? RPG, Hero Defense ? Tower Defense ?
Question 2 : What is the size of the map you want ? 54 * 54 ? 126 * 126 ?

Try it yourself.
Use basic tiles, Environment Doodads, and if you have space, trees :D
Or... whatever you need :)

Then ask someone to improve it.

Also. Your Rep is worth 0.

Its a rpg, single player as of now, when i finish it and work out the bugs for single player, i will make it into a multiplayer map. and i would like it to be 256 * 256 or 224 * 224

Right, i tryed it with one map a while ago, a 4 player anti terroest map, and i tested it with my old clan, i was told that terrain would take me about a year to get right, and got about 5 links to tuts explaining terrain.

Didn't know my rep was worth 0 till now, i forgot i got - rep for a double post.

You should give more descriptions, what exactly do you want in the terrain? What type of scenes/environments/etc. would you like? Any special locations(forests, cities, deserts)?

Could you draw an outline (paint :D) of more or less what you have in mind?

Kinda hard to just terrain for a 256x256 RPG.

As for rep, it's the intentions that matter? :p
Good luck.

Well it could affect a lot, based on the description you give.

For example, one person can be really good at forests, but not at deserts or something like that.

It would be hard to have 1 or 2 people agree to help you out, then you tell them you want islands, and they say nevermind because they can't do it. :p

alright then, i have in my head to have around 20 towns/citys/outposts, a few forests, not shrubey woods, but forests, a des somewhere, and a massive labrinth for then end quests that is not vissable, which i will add. there will be about 100 quests total and about 300+ NPCs.

A bit much, don't you think?

How long are you planning on this taking?

Well, that is, if they're simple enough...

im guessing/estamating (guestamating) about 3 months to 5 months depending on if everything goes smooth or not, I.E. trigger bugs.

Brother, I think that for solo RPG maps, one of the most exciting things is to build the terrain. Cos the terrain is normally linked to the campaign. Buildings, villages, farms, taverns.... etc.

How can you make an adventure without a proper based terrain?

Oh, I like terraining. If you want some help.

Crazy how much 3d printing has come in the last few years. Sad that it's not as easily modifiable though
  • Varine Varine:
I bought an Ender 3 during the pandemic and tinkered with it all the time. Just bought a Sovol, not as easy. I'm trying to make it use a different nozzle because I have a fuck ton of Volcanos, and they use what is basically a modified volcano that is just a smidge longer, and almost every part on this thing needs to be redone to make it work
  • Varine Varine:
Luckily I have a 3d printer for that, I guess. But it's ridiculous. The regular volcanos are 21mm, these Sovol versions are about 23.5mm
  • Varine Varine:
So, 2.5mm longer. But the thing that measures the bed is about 1.5mm above the nozzle, so if I swap it with a volcano then I'm 1mm behind it. So cool, new bracket to swap that, but THEN the fan shroud to direct air at the part is ALSO going to be .5mm to low, and so I need to redo that, but by doing that it is a little bit off where it should be blowing and it's throwing it at the heating block instead of the part, and fuck man
  • Varine Varine:
I didn't realize they designed this entire thing to NOT be modded. I would have just got a fucking Bambu if I knew that, the whole point was I could fuck with this. And no one else makes shit for Sovol so I have to go through them, and they have... interesting pricing models. So I have a new extruder altogether that I'm taking apart and going to just design a whole new one to use my nozzles. Dumb design.
  • Varine Varine:
Can't just buy a new heatblock, you need to get a whole hotend - so block, heater cartridge, thermistor, heatbreak, and nozzle. And they put this fucking paste in there so I can't take the thermistor or cartridge out with any ease, that's 30 dollars. Or you can get the whole extrudor with the direct driver AND that heatblock for like 50, but you still can't get any of it to come apart
  • Varine Varine:
Partsbuilt has individual parts I found but they're expensive. I think I can get bits swapped around and make this work with generic shit though
