Autocasting spells

Is there a way to make units automatically shoot off spells?

I tried "Unit is attacked, order attacking unit to Orc Far Seer - Chain Lightning Attacked Unit", or Undead Dreadlord - Carrion Swarm L (point variable)", but every once in a while, about 1 in 20 casts, my Caster just stands there, not moving and even worse not attacking.

Bein more specific, the skill icon glows green (you know, when you order an ability to be cast, and the unit is moving to cast it?), but the unit stands there and does not cast. Or attack.

How do I fix this?

Kay, I solved it. Took too darn long. Watever, got nothin else but time, who am I to complain.

Both, it sits there tryyying to cast the ability, but the ability doesn't cast. And the cast range is about 1000, and the unit attack range is about 600.

They got cooldowns and all. Like 7 seconds or 12 seconds or so.

And the skills that I'm basing off of are Neutral Hostile Carrion Swarm, Neutral Hostile Chain Lightning, and Neutral Hostile Shadow Strike. Shadow Strike works the best, I think, and by coincedence the unit has zero cast animation.

Try using orb of slow :thup: works wonders sometimes

Change spell from "Slow" to "Chain Lightning" or spell of your choice

What about using a dummy to cast the spell? But this makes the hero ability passive. Try posting the actual trigger. I want to try :).

K, posted those triggers.

I was thinking about that (making dummy units), but I would need twice the amount of abilites, and I wasn't sure how to do an efficient MUI cooldown system. I was gonna make them autocasts, probably.

Also, they're not heroes. Jus mentioning.




Anyone else getting this problem, by the way? Cause I know a lot of maps where the units automatically cast, especially TDs, AOS maps...

I've tried it. It worked. It doesn't have the green color effect thing (yes, I know what you mean :p).

Witchcraft curses my computer. :(.


You can do a MUI cooldown system, depending on your type of map, using custom values and periodic triggers. Easier on the lag if your cooldowns are round numbers (multiples of 2, 3, or 4, you get what I mean)

Yeah but it's not perfect. You can't see the blurred cooldown icon thing. :( Or you could do something similar to DotA's Dagger item. Replace, wait 3 seconds, then replace. But still no cooldown thing (but items can have shared cooldown, so... it's a bit different I guess).

Mmm yeah. In my head, I was still thinking about units that you wouldn't be actively controlling, hence their autocasted nature. But for a hero, that problem would be a bitch.

I suggest starting a brand new map, creating only these few triggers, and testing them in that map. If they work, then your original map has some conflicting triggers or object editor problems. If it doesn't, then witchcraft does indeed curse your computer. : P

'Kay, I'll try that out.

Jus cause I dont think I mentioned it before, the abilities work 95% of the time, but every rare once in a while, a unit gets stuck.

Yeah, every 1 in 50 units or so, the spell doesn't go off and the unit freezes, trying to cast the spell. And it's really hard to tell which unit does it, since I'm using random units from a unit group that contains every unit to check. However, it seems to work on a consistent type of unit (footmen).

And with the Carrion Swarm (A point-targeted ability, not unit-targeted), it randomly doesn't work, and at a much greater frequency.

I was under that impression that the function that you specified was reserved for the activation of autocasting spells on a unit's creation.

    I bought an Ender 3 during the pandemic and tinkered with it all the time. Just bought a Sovol, not as easy. I'm trying to make it use a different nozzle because I have a fuck ton of Volcanos, and they use what is basically a modified volcano that is just a smidge longer, and almost every part on this thing needs to be redone to make it work

So cool, new bracket to swap that, but THEN the fan shroud to direct air at the part is ALSO going to be .5mm to low, and so I need to redo that, but by doing that it is a little bit off where it should be blowing and it's throwing it at the heating block instead of the part, and fuck man

And no one else makes shit for Sovol so I have to go through them, and they have... interesting pricing models.     Can't just buy a new heatblock, you need to get a whole hotend - so block, heater cartridge, thermistor, heatbreak, and nozzle. And they put this fucking paste in there so I can't take the thermistor or cartridge out with any ease, that's 30 dollars. Or you can get the whole extrudor with the direct driver AND that heatblock for like 50, but you still can't get any of it to come apart

    Partsbuilt has individual parts I found but they're expensive. I think I can get bits swapped around and make this work with generic shit though
