Blue screen(Surprise?)

Okay, I like joking about Blue screens but now it has come back to hunt me.

Story:

I'm sitting on a computer with Ubuntu. I want to install a dual boot of Windows. This is complicated since Windows writes over the boot loader and then you have to fix everything and it all becomes a mess.

Anyway, I got one IDE disk with linux on. I also got a seperate IDE card sitting on the motherboard, giving me space for another two IDE drives(both 180gb)

I want to install Windows on one of the 180gb disks.

So, recount:
1 IDE disk(80gb, with linux on it)
2 IDE disks on seperate IDE card(180gb each)

I boot up with the installation cd in the cd-drive. It asks me if I want to boot from the cd, I say yes, it loads up stuff with a black background, it finishes loading stuff and goes black with just a "_" blinking. Then the blue screen of deaths appears.

Error is: 0x0000007B(0xF78DA524, 0x00000034,0x00000000,0x00000000)

* I tried inserting the cd in another computer and it works fine.
* I tried removing all disks but the disk I want to install windows on and also removing the IDE card. I then put the disk I keep in the normal IDE port.
* Messing around in the bios.

The disk I'm trying to install is formatted with ntfs and it got a couple of files on it, I'd rather not reformat it, but I will if needed.

I searched a lot on google and a lot of people with this problem got a problem with their SATA disk, but I'm using IDE! Something about a SATA controller.

I'd post my specs, but I don't know them myself. I can provide them if I get specific questions on what to look for.

Oh, and my bios is Ultra 133 TX2 if it helps.

Well, something is obviously wrong, I'm just hoping I don't have to replace any hardware. That would be irritating since I'm quite broke and all the pieces in my computer is quite good.

I've now tried without any disks at all and I get the same bluescreen error. The things I left in(that might be causing this) is:

* Graphic card
* Mother board
* Power source
* Processor
* CD-player

The graphic card should not be able to cause this(?)

The mother board could mess up with bios settings.

The power setting should have nothing to do with this.

I don't think the processor is causing this.

My friends told me to test another CD-player, but I don't think that's the cause since it is able to boot from the CD and load drivers from it.

I got 4x1gb RAM and I tried with only one of them, cycling through testing two of them in different slots, still the same problem, so I don't think the memory is the cause.

Edit: 500th post.

Linux is working great and is not causing this. One of the first things I tried was disconnecting all disks but the one I wanted to install on.

I'm trying to get into the bios to see if it finds the disk. However, it boots too fast and I can't get into it, any ideas?

This isn't very prevalent, but in the future make sure to install windows first if you're planning on duel booting, trust me.

Something about a SATA controller.
That quote is from a post in this thread.

You mentioned some people had problems with a SATA controller?

This is why:
SATA controller is a electroniccard that you put in a port inside your pc, usually in the PCI ports.
The reason why they have that problem is probably this:
Most of those you need to run the comp once before and install the drivers before the OS acknowledge the cards existence. Since you don't have the drivers with a fresh OS it will probably never work:(

I know this how?:
I used to have one of them, it was a pain in the a** to install and get it to work everytime I ran a "format C:\" :(

What it has to do with this:
The IDE controller thing you mentioned, it might be the same thing there, thus making it virtually impossible to run a operating system on a disk plugged into it:(

I could if I was able to. However, dad forbid me to use Windows, so I've used Linux for a year now. He recently granted me access to Windows again, therefore the reason I'm fixing dual boot(Already tried virtual machine with no success)

Does that mean I can't install Windows on any IDE disk? Or on that particular? Or what?

    Signatures can be edit in your account profile. As for the old stuffs, I'm thinking it's because Blizzard is now under Microsoft, and because of Microsoft Xbox going the way it is, it's dreadful.

    Crazy how much 3d printing has come in the last few years. Sad that it's not as easily modifiable though
  • Varine Varine:
    I bought an Ender 3 during the pandemic and tinkered with it all the time. Just bought a Sovol, not as easy. I'm trying to make it use a different nozzle because I have a fuck ton of Volcanos, and they use what is basically a modified volcano that is just a smidge longer, and almost every part on this thing needs to be redone to make it work
  • Varine Varine:
    Luckily I have a 3d printer for that, I guess. But it's ridiculous. The regular volcanos are 21mm, these Sovol versions are about 23.5mm
  • Varine Varine:
    So, 2.5mm longer. But the thing that measures the bed is about 1.5mm above the nozzle, so if I swap it with a volcano then I'm 1mm behind it. So cool, new bracket to swap that, but THEN the fan shroud to direct air at the part is ALSO going to be .5mm to low, and so I need to redo that, but by doing that it is a little bit off where it should be blowing and it's throwing it at the heating block instead of the part, and fuck man
  • Varine Varine:
    I didn't realize they designed this entire thing to NOT be modded. I would have just got a fucking Bambu if I knew that, the whole point was I could fuck with this. And no one else makes shit for Sovol so I have to go through them, and they have... interesting pricing models. So I have a new extruder altogether that I'm taking apart and going to just design a whole new one to use my nozzles. Dumb design.
  • Varine Varine:
    Can't just buy a new heatblock, you need to get a whole hotend - so block, heater cartridge, thermistor, heatbreak, and nozzle. And they put this fucking paste in there so I can't take the thermistor or cartridge out with any ease, that's 30 dollars. Or you can get the whole extrudor with the direct driver AND that heatblock for like 50, but you still can't get any of it to come apart
  • Varine Varine:
    Partsbuilt has individual parts I found but they're expensive. I think I can get bits swapped around and make this work with generic shit though
