Thanks you for the help...

you know it's actually really hard to understand... I don't think it says it clearly enough for me.

its as simple as possible, took me about an hour to learn jass using it...
i had some programming knowlege before reading though.

I had no programming knowledge, but it didn't took me very much to understand the basics. The really basic things (what is a function, what are locals, how to use them and things like those) I learnt from Vexorian's tutorial. The other things I learnt from studying other people's code and by receiving tips from people with more experience in Jass. :) I realised that I like programming :D

How long did it take you, smith? I would love to learn JASS, but I haven't found the time. If it takes just an hour to learn, as SFilip said, then I might be encouraged to clear some things in my schedule. From a first glance at the tutorial, it looks like I'd have to clear time for a week or longer.

Well, I had a long story: first, I start reading Vex's tut, in less than an hour I learned what is a function etc, then I started to make simple functions and I was keep getting compilation errors, I was getting very annoyed and this, along with the thing that I was busy with school made me forget about learning Jass. Then, I started it again and, with a lot of help from Daelin, I became more experienced and now I'm getting better and better. I started learning Jass about 2 months ago, but from this 2, probably just 1-2 weeks I learned Jass. Considering the fact that I had no experience in any programming language, I think it didn't took me too much... Anyway, it worths learning it, it'll make your life much easier in Wc3 modding :D

Tip: be patient. my mistake was that I was very impatient ;)

What I do is make a trigger, then convert it to custom text, This is helping me learn the basics.

Partly off topic: But like Sfilip, I have past programming knowledge(VB 6, HTML+some CSS+ java script(They are kind of linked)
But I learned about variables in world editor.

The thing is that GUI uses a lot of shitty stuff (ie: the BJ functions that call another function =/ ).

simply converting will help, but you need to learn the advantages of jass from a tutorial.

> But I learned about variables in world editor.
if you didn't learn this before "facing" with the editor then honestly how much programming knowlege you have?
and btw JS, CSS and html aren't programming, they are scripting languages.

Looks like Google fixed whatever mistake that made the recipes on the site go crazy and we are no longer trending towards a recipe site lol - I don't care though because it motivated me to spend alot of time on the site improving it and at least now the content people are looking at is not stupid and embarrassing like it was when I first got back into this like 5 years ago.
  • The Helper The Helper:
Plus - I have a pretty bad ass recipe collection now! That section of the site is 10 thousand times better than it was before

We now have a web designer at my job. A legit talented professional! I am going to get him to redesign the site theme. It is time.

I got one more day of community service and then I'm free from this nonsense! I polished a cop car today for a funeral or something I guess

They also were digging threw old shit at the sheriff's office and I tried to get them to give me the old electronic stuff, but they said no. They can't give it to people because they might use it to impersonate a cop or break into their network or some shit? idk but it was a shame to see them take a whole bunch of radios and shit to get shredded and landfilled

Hmm, how do I change my signature?
  • tom_mai78101 tom_mai78101:
Signatures can be edit in your account profile. As for the old stuffs, I'm thinking it's because Blizzard is now under Microsoft, and because of Microsoft Xbox going the way it is, it's dreadful.
  • The Helper The Helper:
I am not big on the recipes I am just promoting them - I use the site as a practice place promoting stuff

@tom_mai78101 I must be blind. If I go on my profile I don't see any area to edit the signature; If I go to account details (settings) I don't see any signature area either.
  • The Helper The Helper:
You can get there if you click the bell icon (alerts) and choose preferences from the bottom, signature will be in the menu on the left there https://www.thehelper.net/account/preferences
