Can you Unpick units?

I've been playing around trying to make custom spells but I just ran into a brick wall. Basically I have it Pick units within the range of the target area of spell being cast and make a special effect at those units. That works perfectly, but when the units die and are no longer there, they still make the effect at that location whenever I target that area. So I was wondering, can you and how can you unpick units so the trigger can refresh?

        (Ability being cast) Equal to Ability01 
    Actions
        Special Effect - Create a special effect at (Target point of ability being cast) using Abilities\Spells\Human\Thunderclap\ThunderClapCaster.mdl
        Unit - Cause (Triggering unit) to damage circular area after 0.00 seconds of radius 300.00 at (Target point of ability being cast), dealing 100.00 damage of attack type Chaos and damage type Enhanced
        Unit Group - Pick every unit in (Units within 300.00 of (Target point of ability being cast)) and do (Actions)
            Loop - Actions
                Special Effect - Create a special effect at (Position of (Picked unit)) using Abilities\Spells\Items\TomeOfRetraining\TomeOfRetrainingCaster.mdl
                Unit - Cause (Triggering unit) to damage (Picked unit), dealing 50.00 damage of attack type Chaos and damage type Fire

you can do it with an if/then/else and if unit is alive

Alternatively, use one of the "matching" versions. Which allows to add as many conditions as needed.
