Chat Message Distortion

I'm sure any of you who have played Phase Killer know about the function where a ghost speaks, and usually about half of the letters in the message are replaced with a purple apostrophe, simulating that their speech is distorted and harder to read. I've been looking around for a little know, and I'm curious how to make such a code, or let alone where to start with it. Any help?

hmmm...if this ghost is a user, a trigger can change its substring randomly and add a color code to it.. by variable string = string + |cff?????*|rw()()T

if it is a computer... as random value..a set of preset strings..

triggered. that would mean that there is a trigger to hide a ghost "users" text.
