Check that unit is facing other unit

Hello!

I need help with a kind of "reverse backstab ability". I want to check that udg_Caster is facing udg_Targ. This is what I got so far (looking on other backstab abilities I understood I need these things, but probably in other order with other numbers for checking if unit is facing other unit).

Trigger:
  • Facing Target
    • Events
    • Conditions
    • Ability_Continue Equal to True
    • Actions
    • Set Real[1] = (Facing of Targ)
    • Set Real[2] = (Facing of Caster)
    • If (All Conditions are True) then do (Then Actions) else do (Else Actions)
    • If - Conditions
    • Real[1] Greater than or equal to (Real[2] + 35.00)
    • Real[1] Less than or equal to (Real[2] + 35.00)
    • Then - Actions
    • Unit - Remove Ability from Caster
    • Unit - Add Ability to Caster
    • Unit - Set mana of Caster to ((Mana of Caster) + Ability_Cost)
    • Game - Display to (Player group((Owner of Caster))) for 2.00 seconds the text: |cffff0000Need to f...
    • Set Ability_Continue = False
    • Else - Actions

Problem now is that the unit seems to never trigger the game message.

With two conditions, both of them need to be validated for the rest of the loop to run. In this case Real[1] needs to be exactly equal to Real[2] for anything to happen. Try putting them in an Or (Multiple Conditions) block.

EDIT: Your post and your trigger don't match up. Do you want your caster to be facing the target, or facing it's back?

I want the caster to face the target :) I just took a backstab ability and tried to modify it myself, but I'm sure it's wrong

Try this.
Trigger:
  • Set Real[1] = (Facing of Targ)
    • Set Real[2] = (Facing of Caster)
    • If (All Conditions are True) then do (Then Actions) else do (Else Actions)
      • If - Conditions
        • Real[1] Less than or equal to (Real[2] + 215.00)
        • Real[1] Greater than or equal to (Real[2] + 145.00)
      • Then - Actions
      • Else - Actions

215 = 180 + 35
145 = 180 - 35
Basically, turn the target's facing around, then check within 35 degrees in either direction.

          • Set Ability_Continue = False
        • Else - Actions

This doesn't work either. It never plays the game message.

If you want it that way, why don't you just set the caster position to "Position of (Target unit of ability being cast)) offset by 32.00 towards (Facing of (Target unit of ability being cast)) degrees"

Greater than small number, less than big number.

I'm not making my abilities the wc3 way, but the "WoW way", meaning you right click a guy and then he's your target. Then you use no target spells, which will still cause an effect on your target. Therefor I have to check that the caster is facing the target (and also that the target is in range, is alive etc but that's in other triggers).
Example: I use Berserk. Storm Bolt is casted on udg_Target[custom value of udg_Caster] IF: target is in range, is alive and caster is facing target.

I really have no idea what's wrong anymore, because it works fine in this test map. Are you sure all your conditions are valid, and the trigger is actually being run at all?

I'll check that one first, I'll inform you when I'm done...
Leazy, can you give me the map that contains the ability that you want to make...?
So, I can understand what you really want to make, beside I'm too lazy to copying those triggers and variables... :D

Do you mean that both the caster and the target have to be looking at each other? This is a different way of looking at it.
If so you can use:
A = Angle from caster to target
Caster facing angle within X degrees of A
Targets facing angle within X degrees of (A+180)

This basically draws a line between the two units. Just create conditions to check if your facing angle is within X degrees of it.
Hope that helped.

Signatures can be edit in your account profile. As for the old stuffs, I'm thinking it's because Blizzard is now under Microsoft, and because of Microsoft Xbox going the way it is, it's dreadful.

Crazy how much 3d printing has come in the last few years. Sad that it's not as easily modifiable though
  • Varine Varine:
I bought an Ender 3 during the pandemic and tinkered with it all the time. Just bought a Sovol, not as easy. I'm trying to make it use a different nozzle because I have a fuck ton of Volcanos, and they use what is basically a modified volcano that is just a smidge longer, and almost every part on this thing needs to be redone to make it work
  • Varine Varine:
Luckily I have a 3d printer for that, I guess. But it's ridiculous. The regular volcanos are 21mm, these Sovol versions are about 23.5mm
  • Varine Varine:
So, 2.5mm longer. But the thing that measures the bed is about 1.5mm above the nozzle, so if I swap it with a volcano then I'm 1mm behind it. So cool, new bracket to swap that, but THEN the fan shroud to direct air at the part is ALSO going to be .5mm to low, and so I need to redo that, but by doing that it is a little bit off where it should be blowing and it's throwing it at the heating block instead of the part, and fuck man
  • Varine Varine:
I didn't realize they designed this entire thing to NOT be modded. I would have just got a fucking Bambu if I knew that, the whole point was I could fuck with this. And no one else makes shit for Sovol so I have to go through them, and they have... interesting pricing models. So I have a new extruder altogether that I'm taking apart and going to just design a whole new one to use my nozzles. Dumb design.
  • Varine Varine:
Can't just buy a new heatblock, you need to get a whole hotend - so block, heater cartridge, thermistor, heatbreak, and nozzle. And they put this fucking paste in there so I can't take the thermistor or cartridge out with any ease, that's 30 dollars. Or you can get the whole extrudor with the direct driver AND that heatblock for like 50, but you still can't get any of it to come apart
  • Varine Varine:
Partsbuilt has individual parts I found but they're expensive. I think I can get bits swapped around and make this work with generic shit though
