Cookies not cleared

I've been wondering for awhile now about this site's cookies. I have it set for when I close Firefox (Just like Internet Explorer) all the cookies I have stored are deleted. Yet when I come back to this site I still auto-log in. Why aren't they being deleted with the other cookies. I mean its good that they aren't but I'm curious.

Normaly it's just session cookies that is deleted when you close the browser, all other cookies is stored until they 'expire'.
If you have autologin on there is two cookies that are set to expire in one year: userid and password.
