Hey guys,
What would you like to see added to a Helm's Deep map? What would you change about them? What would you do to make it better? Post here with your ideas, comments, critisims, and suggestions. And I will reply best I can, and talk to you about your ideas... And who knows? I might (most likely) add your ideas to the map!

Whoa that was an amazing looking Helms Deep Nice job you have obviously put a lot of work into it. I really liked thos towers/wall things. Only question I have is in one of the pictures the archer is really small, and then there is a swordsman that is like 20x bigger.

The only problem I have with Helms Deep games is that all orcs do is mass units. And all the humans do is stack heros and hide in main hall. Hopefully your version is more balanced ( I wouldnt be suprised if it was seeing the work you put into terrain and such).

Stop stealing maps.

Taking a common map, spamming doodads, and filling it with imports to the point where people can't dl through hosted games, meh. Doesn't work.

As for some guy saying people just mass orcs, wasn't that the point of Helms Deep? The orcs had massive amounts of weak people, the humans had a fair amount high quality.

You should make this really difficult for the humans, and also orcs should start off with lots of units.

I'll check out the map later when I have time.

Thanks for the good words. In the picture with the Elves and the Knight in the background, I made the Knights bigger so that they would be easier to target for the orcs, the Knights are powerful units, and are a big threat.
As for massing orcs and such, thats what Helm's deep was all about, however I will try to add varity and add more things to do in the map.

I did use another map as a template a long time ago, and working on this map helped me learn alot about map development and how to do lots of things. I am only submiting this map because its the one ive spent the most time with, and it is by far the most polished thing I have so far.
However, i learned alot about abilities in another map I was working on called "Under a blood red sky", which is not finished yet.
I posted this map becuase I hoped everyone could enjoy the multimedia experiance that has come from months of testing and learning.

This version of Helm's Deep is hard for the humans, however Aragorn is overpowerd and neesds to be nerfed. I am going to use all of the custom ranged attacks that I made for my other map for the humans and elves.
-Shattering Arrows (ranged cleave, costs 1 mana, archers that will use have 30 mana and no regen)
-Flaming Arrows (searing arrows, cost: 1, mana: 40)
-Nature Arrows (black arrows, cost 1, mana 20, wisps)
and alot more custom abilites to come... and a few trigger abilities.

The screenshots look great, but be aware that many custom models will probably cause the game to lag if they are massed.
You should have a RAM requirement warning ;)

I don't think that massing custom modeled units will cause lag.
It hasnt for me, the only thing that makes it lag is the troll slam ability, when i use the sleep animation for it.

Does anyone have any feature suggestions? I love input from players~!

Make all archers have piercing damage, call it arrows, and then the orcs with shields should get defend (like in the movie where they carry the shields above their head) which protects against 99% of arrow attacks. Siege weaponry should do MORE damage to shielded foes though.

Hmmmm, thats a good idea, have defend accually be like a morph, and give them fortified defence.
I like it! Ill be sure to write that down!

Every unit should have a % chance to miss, with a bigger percent on Orcs and Archers. The % should be really low of course, because they don't miss very often ;)
They should also get a critical strike for instant death of the enemy, but yet again a very low chance (like hitting their heart or something)

I haven't gotten around to dling it, because I make more maps than actually play them lol.

I'll dl it and play it next time I'm on.

Edit > As of 5:00 PM MST (exactly) I am downloading the map and playing on BNet lol

Yeah... uhh... About me playing...
I hosted, when I hit start game the game crashed, then someone came online talked etc etc

Point is I haven't gotten around to hosting it again >.<

    Crazy how much 3d printing has come in the last few years. Sad that it's not as easily modifiable though

    I bought an Ender 3 during the pandemic and tinkered with it all the time. Just bought a Sovol, not as easy. I'm trying to make it use a different nozzle because I have a fuck ton of Volcanos, and they use what is basically a modified volcano that is just a smidge longer, and almost every part on this thing needs to be redone to make it work

    Luckily I have a 3d printer for that, I guess. But it's ridiculous. The regular volcanos are 21mm, these Sovol versions are about 23.5mm

    So, 2.5mm longer. But the thing that measures the bed is about 1.5mm above the nozzle, so if I swap it with a volcano then I'm 1mm behind it. So cool, new bracket to swap that, but THEN the fan shroud to direct air at the part is ALSO going to be .5mm to low, and so I need to redo that, but by doing that it is a little bit off where it should be blowing and it's throwing it at the heating block instead of the part, and fuck man

    I didn't realize they designed this entire thing to NOT be modded. I would have just got a fucking Bambu if I knew that, the whole point was I could fuck with this. And no one else makes shit for Sovol so I have to go through them, and they have... interesting pricing models. So I have a new extruder altogether that I'm taking apart and going to just design a whole new one to use my nozzles. Dumb design.

    Can't just buy a new heatblock, you need to get a whole hotend - so block, heater cartridge, thermistor, heatbreak, and nozzle. And they put this fucking paste in there so I can't take the thermistor or cartridge out with any ease, that's 30 dollars. Or you can get the whole extrudor with the direct driver AND that heatblock for like 50, but you still can't get any of it to come apart

    Partsbuilt has individual parts I found but they're expensive. I think I can get bits swapped around and make this work with generic shit though
