Frequent lags in everything

Hi to everyone

I've decided to post here for help as I finally got sick of this unsolvable lags recently... ( Well to me.. )

All was well recently until the next day where I face tremendous lags. I did a thorough scans for Spywares , Viruses and some Registry cleanups and Defragments but there's still no positive result. I also tried clearing cookies , flushing my DNS caches , clearing Temp files and folders but I just can't get it right.

Any single clicks I made, will actually ( sometimes ) hangs the entire computer. And while playing Dota, there will be lag spikes every few seconds or mins of gameplay without fail. Occurs in both Online and Offline Dota.

The previous time it happened and I did a defragment 4 to 5 times in a row and it finally got back to what it used to be. Are there any permenant solutions to this ridiculous lag? For the first time ever, I feel like punching my beloved computer. :banghead::banghead:

Make sure that your video driver is up to date.

To find out what vid card you have go to start>run>dxdiag and look at the vid card model. Then google *vid car* driver. Make sure that you dl the driver from the official company website.

I once had this problem and it was because my video card's fan was broken and it overheated.

Make sure it is still working if you have one :)

the fan on your motherboard could also be broken, thus resulting in overheating and lower proformance.

these fans can break in two ways

the fan itself breaks, thus theres nothing to pull the hot air out of the hardware

or the path between the fan and the hardware is clogged, thus trapping and or restricting the air in

The reason why my computer is in the shop atm is because of the fan clogging and im getting one replaced, i suggest you check for dust or anything else that can clog it, if you see it clean it out.

if your still haveing trubble i have no idea then

It wouldn't be a driver problem if you haven't experienced the problem before. If its only been trouble recently then its most definitely a virus, or corrupted program.

If its overheating theres many temperature monitoring programs out there. But if your CPU were overheating your computer would reboot. I honestly don't think a warm CPU would work slower. My computer used to overheat but wouldn't slow down. Just clean the fans if your worried about that.

If you want to monitor your temperatures try out speedfan. Its the only one I know of. Overheating isn't really a problem and when it is its usually in usually fixed with a can of compressed air you can get at wal-mart.

Since you claim to have done virus/spyware scans etc, mind listing what you've used? Different virus scans use different databases, it doesn't matter how much you paid - It only matters how much they know.

It might just be a program running in the background - very common problem. Not always classified as a "virus". Just check your startup items in (start > run > msconfig --> startup)

Its alright trying to guess but this could be a number of things...

1) Video card could be over heating causing problems
2) RAM chips could developed faults if the system is old
3)......the list goes on

If you can i would do a complete reinstall of the OS...as i find that no matter what programme you use to clean you computer...nothing makes a better job that a complete reset.

Another thing you can do is NOT use norton or zonealarm pro version for you antivirus as these are really memory hungry.....go for avast as antivirus and zonealarm basic (both free) as they use very little resources on the system.

If it lags after that then its a hardware problem and i would take it down to the computer shop and ask them to test the system...they can put a benchmark/diagnostics tool through and try to detect any problems. But to be honest they would do a reset as it will allow them to rule out a software problem
