Despite all the weird things Ryanair manages to do to its passengers, they do have their fair share of wacky passengers as well.

During one of their flights this week, a passenger purchased a scratchcard lottery ticket (one of the many ways Ryanair makes money). When he uncovered the numbers, he turned out to be the lucky winner of €10,000 (about $13,600).

And this is where the story takes a twist for the weird - when the passenger was told that he would have to send his ticket in for verification, and that the cabin crew don't fly around Europe with that kind of cash, he got furious.

Normal people would throw a tantrum, calm down, and accept the situation. Instead, the lucky winner ate his ticket.

I doubt most people would even throw a tantrum. It's perfectly logical, and what I would expect if I were to win.

Why is it that it's always people like this who win things? :p

it's not, it's just people like this who make the news

I don't really get why they wouldn't fly him.. 13k isn't too much money, is it? I thought the limit was about 20 k

Of course, I wasn't being serious.

It wasn't that they wouldn't fly him, but he purchased a lottery ticket on his flight and won. He ate the ticket simply because he couldn't have his money right that second.

Sadly, I doubt logic is the strong suit of many people :p

It's extremely puzzling as to how eating your ticket would be a way of venting your frustration? If anything, it's going to make things even worse a few seconds after he's calmed down, once he realises what he's done...

Nope. Anything over 10 thousand has to be declared on international flights. Well if you're leaving or coming to the US, I've never heard of Ryanair so I have no idea where they operate out of, I think in Europe it's like 12,500 Euros. Although that's kind of stupid that they wouldn't let him fly, usually as long as you can justify where you got the money, as this guy was quite capable of doing, it's not that big of a deal.

The article didn't say anything about not letting him fly.

It says that they don't allow people to carry that amount of money on them inflight.

No, it was a sarcasticly written statement saying that the crew pointed out that they don't carry the prize money on the aircraft with them.

Hence 'the cabin crew don't fly around Europe with that kind of cash.'

No, it says that the cabin crews do not fly around Europe with a huge lump of cash.

Did I misinterpret that?

Yes.

when the passenger was told that he would have to send his ticket in for verification, and that the cabin crew do not fly around Europe with that kind of cash, he got furious.

The cabin crew can't verify that the lottery ticket is a valid winning ticket, and they're not going to have that kind of money to hand out to passengers that win.

Signatures can be edit in your account profile. As for the old stuffs, I'm thinking it's because Blizzard is now under Microsoft, and because of Microsoft Xbox going the way it is, it's dreadful.

Crazy how much 3d printing has come in the last few years. Sad that it's not as easily modifiable though
  • Varine Varine:
I bought an Ender 3 during the pandemic and tinkered with it all the time. Just bought a Sovol, not as easy. I'm trying to make it use a different nozzle because I have a fuck ton of Volcanos, and they use what is basically a modified volcano that is just a smidge longer, and almost every part on this thing needs to be redone to make it work
  • Varine Varine:
Luckily I have a 3d printer for that, I guess. But it's ridiculous. The regular volcanos are 21mm, these Sovol versions are about 23.5mm
  • Varine Varine:
So, 2.5mm longer. But the thing that measures the bed is about 1.5mm above the nozzle, so if I swap it with a volcano then I'm 1mm behind it. So cool, new bracket to swap that, but THEN the fan shroud to direct air at the part is ALSO going to be .5mm to low, and so I need to redo that, but by doing that it is a little bit off where it should be blowing and it's throwing it at the heating block instead of the part, and fuck man
  • Varine Varine:
I didn't realize they designed this entire thing to NOT be modded. I would have just got a fucking Bambu if I knew that, the whole point was I could fuck with this. And no one else makes shit for Sovol so I have to go through them, and they have... interesting pricing models. So I have a new extruder altogether that I'm taking apart and going to just design a whole new one to use my nozzles. Dumb design.
  • Varine Varine:
Can't just buy a new heatblock, you need to get a whole hotend - so block, heater cartridge, thermistor, heatbreak, and nozzle. And they put this fucking paste in there so I can't take the thermistor or cartridge out with any ease, that's 30 dollars. Or you can get the whole extrudor with the direct driver AND that heatblock for like 50, but you still can't get any of it to come apart
  • Varine Varine:
Partsbuilt has individual parts I found but they're expensive. I think I can get bits swapped around and make this work with generic shit though
