Yup, it's me.
Yup, I'm making another model pack.
Yup, I need your help.
Yup, this is rather annoying, bladiblah blah blah.

The general idea of the map is a zombie defense - players try to keep zombies from reaching the other side of the map. In my game, it's very fluid. Players are pushed back, players push forward, ect.

The red line is the best (and hardest to regain) defensive line. In front of the obstacles there are several spotlights which grant vision for picking zombies off further away. If a zombie cross the cords, it can 'trip' on them and turn the spotlights off. When this happens, players are going to be pushed back to the first row of buildings.

But, what I need are suggestions on what should be at the obstacle line. So go wild!
Sandbags?
Overturned cars/school bus?
Fences?

+rep for suggesting something which could be used.
-rep for putting thread offtopic
If you're confused just ask.

EDIT: Attached very small demo map of this. Keep in mind this is incomplete.
When I'm finished with this, I'll release it as a pack with an included 'low res' version.

What about already destroyed buildings, dead humans and things alike? I assume the Zombies already have been loose and this is the final front against them, before they enter some critical point, and the human race (or whatever race) is doomed :b

Yeah maybe some ruins of a building need the roads?
Sandbags neer the humans would make sense, maybe they thought errecting them would stop the zombies for a small ammount of time.
A blown up smoking car?
also just curious, whats the thing in the middle and the red line supposed to be?
last thing, yeah lots of ruins and maybe some evidence of humans panicking to "get out" of there by car so some cars crashed together?

An early building. Still very WIP. As you can guess, units can get on the roofs of some buildings.

I don't feel like describing the storyline, but buildings will be intact due to this town being a controlled evacuation.

As I said before, the red line represents the easiest place to defend, until it is overran (once the spotlights are lost, combat gets much closer where zombies have the advantage)
Once the red line is lost, players would than probably retreat to the first row of buildings. Once the spawn rate runs low, players can rush back to the red line and reactivate the spotlights.

This topic is for suggesting what should be used as a barrier on the red line. I want static, inanimate objects and not "Machine Guns" or other weapons.

You mean what humans have put there to stop the zombies or what was randomly thrown there out of confusion or chaos or something?

Metal barrels
cars
sandbags (seems more like an army thing to do)
upturned bookcases
tables
chairs
signposts
broken lampposts
trees..
dead trees
broken trees
POWERLINES? (would be so cool if you could shoot them down onto the zombies)

Edit: Whats WIP?

Trees lying on the ground. Used as a barricade for zombies.

I mean, if I was in the middle of a snowy "Nowhere" and I was a commander of troops, and we needed a barricade. What's closes? Huge trees! Cut that down down and hide behind it.

Anyway, thats my 10 cent. My 2 cent is free ;)

While I'll probably try my hand at some custom trees, they won't be targetable.

I'm not going to do ruined buildings, as I'd have to create another set of models which I'm too lazy to do :p

Metal barrels --- Nice
cars ---Already stated, but nice none the less
sandbags (seems more like an army thing to do) --- I'll actually probably replace this with highway sand cones
upturned bookcases --- probably not, would seem strange in the middle of nowhere
tables --- Same as above
chairs ---Same as above
signposts ---While I'll make a small pack for signs, they won't be used in the barricade
broken lampposts ---Same with above
trees.. ---While I'll make some custom trees, they won't be used in the barricade
dead trees --- Very likely, thanks.
POWERLINES--- While there will be powerlines, they won't be target able.

I'm sorry, but I just have to say;
Very nice modelling I've seen from you.
You've brought a whole new perspective to world editing.

Firstly, yes barriers how could i forget. You know, those water filled barriers usually white/red. ANYWAYS.
if the city was being evacuated and your a soldier or something, and you wanted to make a barricade why wouldn't you drag stuff out of houses (you would have to make the model cracked and breaking or something cause a recenty dragged out book case wouldn't look spotless) . Also broken trees would be cool and i haven't ever seen a broken trees model before. Something that looked like it had been hit by lightning or something.
piles of Tyres
Its in the snow so.. Piled up snow
yeah street cones
metal road barriers
police tape?
yeah im out of ideas.

A few of those were good - I'll probably make some tires so a small mound can be made up.

Attached small demo map to first map. Please note that it is not complete.
I also accidently forgot to remove the scripts. Zombies won't have models either.

dude, an idea for the map. Gass barrels, rappunk said it before, but they could be like explosive barrels. If youve ever played gears of war then you'll know what im talking about. You shoot them, the blow up, they are set on fire, they emmit light?

i dont know if you are planing on making zombie models yourself, if you do that, i think it could be super cool to make make some species, if you have played left 4 dead theres a good hint, but if you havent then try take a look at this image, that could be fucking awesome if you could make them like that...

One of the things that have been on my to-do list is learn animation - but I'm pretty bad at making things look natural (I've tried many times to make a body)

I'm also pretty new to skinning things with an actual skin - zombies for an example. Every few days I take another stab and slowly improve the look of the zombies. Zombies with 'realistic' clothes is something I want to do.

y, that could be awesome, and i dont know if you have tried yet, but i just tested your map, and when you walk at the stair thing to the roof thing that your men starts on.... then when you change from the stair thing to the roof, its make you man move like he get teleported, you could use a jump system there (cant help you with that, but try seeking on a tuto)....

While it's possible to make a 2 story building in the exact same terrain, it's heavily limited to the use of cameras, making it something I'd rather not look into.

While some buildings in my game will feature 2 stories, the story below (or above) will not be 'walkable' depending on which one is used.
Destructables can't be made transparent sadly, so instead they'll have to be replaced by units (which shouldn't post too much of a problem, as the objects needing to be units would just be fx)

Haven't added anything major to the pack besides what's in the first post, but expected to.
Here's a picture of a WIP apartment.
The exterier looks incredible, however the roof is rather poor.

Strange, spoiler tags aren't working..
A large apartment, viewed from the side.

Another view of the other apartments, also a shot of my small set of street models, lines, and other stuff. I once created a sign pack, but I guess I deleted it..Fuck. So much time wasted in that! I'll eventually make another.

One way I'm going to 'fix' up the roof is add transparent roof tiles.
Another thing I'm going to do is drop a large AC, with some pipes coming off of it. The AC + Pipes will block the player from jumping over the ledge into the staircases.

The reason why I don't just use normal tiles, is wc3 doesn't support 2 walkable floors.
