how do i give players a certain amount of money when they start the game?

i want to give 2000g and 1000lumber to the players when they start the map?

That's very simple
Make a trigger with the following(i made 2 cases):

Event
Map Initialization
Conditions

Actions(case 1)
Player - Add Property - Add Gold/Lumber [number] to [chosen player(1->12)]

Actions(case 2)
Pick every player in [all players/your group] and do actions
Conditions
Actions
Player - Add property - Add Gold/Lumber [number] to [Picked Player]
Else

use it if it works for you

EDIT: replace the [...] with the player you want or the number you want etc...
and by the way you might want to delete the Action "Give all players starting resources" from the default "Map Initialization" trigger if you don't want them to have more than your number

You can alternatively change starting resources under one of the options.

I think it is in Gameplay Constants or something like that on the top toolbar.
