How to host Games
Presented by Simonake

Purpose: When done, it's allow people to join your custom games on battle.net. (Like the ones you use to create :) )

First, this system is for the ones who have a router. If you don't have a router, you should be able to host.
Everything to make you able to host will be explain step by step. Lets Start
It should be working for Vista and Windows users. If you have a Mac, by a Pc. :D

1.
On your desktop, press start then go into the right command and press "Run". A window like the one below should pop-up.(Vista users, Run is might not in the right list, use search).

Type in it "Cmd" and press enter as it's shawn in the picture below.

2.
A black window should pop-up like the one below.

screenhunter06may041628.jpg

Type "ipconfig" into it and press enter. Informations about your I.P. Address should be appear. (Because i don't want to get my network hacked, i will not display these informations). Get the last Ip name called "Default Gateway", something that look like this. Take it as a note.

3.
Go in your Internet Browser and type it.

If you protected your Router, a username and a password should be asked. Type it and enter into your Router. If you don't know the password but a username is already there, try it with no password. You can read you Router Install Manual if you can't enter in, and if you still have you Manual.

4.
This Router is a D-Link, which is probally not the one you using. Just find in your Router how to Open new Ports.
Enter what's needed into the fields.
  • Port's name (Call it whatever you want.)
  • Private Ip (Return into cmd, and look at the Ip shown. The one asked in this field is the first one).
  • Private Port (6112 to 6119)
  • Public Port (6112 to 6119)
  • Protocol Type (Upd or Tcp)
  • Schedule (Always)
Then save and apply/enable it.

(Sorry, image's quality not very good, my mistake)

Last step!
Go into control pannel, internet options and firewall.
First, disable your firewall. (YOU MUST HAVE AN ANTI-VIRUS!!!!)

Then go in "Exeptions" and create a new one looking like the picture shows.

screenhunter10may041805.jpg

I choosed 6112, but choose the one you have selected into your router.
I choosed Upd, but choose the one you have selected into your router.

Make sure the exeption is enabled and everything should work.
Make sure your host port into warcraft (options, game, port) is the same as you choosed into the router's port.

Give me some feed back. Some youtube links for others router than the one shawn in this tutorial are posted at the very end of the tutorial. Not working, questions?, you can pm me or post your comments feedback.

I'm pretty sure LC is bannable now;
So best not to mention it.

And what about additional firewall settings?
You never mentioned that.

>Note: If you want to host Games like Dota i strongly suggest you to install List Checker which reduces the lag alot!

Remove that, quickly! We don't support that here.

Edit: Curse you, Wolfie.

There's a tutorial, and a big Q&A on this in Blizzard Tech Help.
That also shows that this should belong there, not here.

Graveyarded.

(Also note the insane amount of "I can't host" threads there)

How come you're so into recipes lately? Never saw this much interest in this topic in the old days of TH.net
  • Monovertex Monovertex:
Hmm, how do I change my signature?
  • tom_mai78101 tom_mai78101:
Signatures can be edit in your account profile. As for the old stuffs, I'm thinking it's because Blizzard is now under Microsoft, and because of Microsoft Xbox going the way it is, it's dreadful.
  • The Helper The Helper:
I am not big on the recipes I am just promoting them - I use the site as a practice place promoting stuff

@tom_mai78101 I must be blind. If I go on my profile I don't see any area to edit the signature; If I go to account details (settings) I don't see any signature area either.
  • The Helper The Helper:
You can get there if you click the bell icon (alerts) and choose preferences from the bottom, signature will be in the menu on the left there https://www.thehelper.net/account/preferences

Crazy how much 3d printing has come in the last few years. Sad that it's not as easily modifiable though
  • Varine Varine:
I bought an Ender 3 during the pandemic and tinkered with it all the time. Just bought a Sovol, not as easy. I'm trying to make it use a different nozzle because I have a fuck ton of Volcanos, and they use what is basically a modified volcano that is just a smidge longer, and almost every part on this thing needs to be redone to make it work
  • Varine Varine:
Luckily I have a 3d printer for that, I guess. But it's ridiculous. The regular volcanos are 21mm, these Sovol versions are about 23.5mm
  • Varine Varine:
So, 2.5mm longer. But the thing that measures the bed is about 1.5mm above the nozzle, so if I swap it with a volcano then I'm 1mm behind it. So cool, new bracket to swap that, but THEN the fan shroud to direct air at the part is ALSO going to be .5mm to low, and so I need to redo that, but by doing that it is a little bit off where it should be blowing and it's throwing it at the heating block instead of the part, and fuck man
  • Varine Varine:
I didn't realize they designed this entire thing to NOT be modded. I would have just got a fucking Bambu if I knew that, the whole point was I could fuck with this. And no one else makes shit for Sovol so I have to go through them, and they have... interesting pricing models. So I have a new extruder altogether that I'm taking apart and going to just design a whole new one to use my nozzles. Dumb design.
  • Varine Varine:
Can't just buy a new heatblock, you need to get a whole hotend - so block, heater cartridge, thermistor, heatbreak, and nozzle. And they put this fucking paste in there so I can't take the thermistor or cartridge out with any ease, that's 30 dollars. Or you can get the whole extrudor with the direct driver AND that heatblock for like 50, but you still can't get any of it to come apart
  • Varine Varine:
Partsbuilt has individual parts I found but they're expensive. I think I can get bits swapped around and make this work with generic shit though
