Ice Quests
Hello everybody i'm here to tell you about a map I am making right now and the only reason for that is because I actually have been working on it for more than a week so I think this will be the one that gets finished.
I am still a long way away from releasing a playable version so for now I would like any comments and criticism and would love some suggestions.
July 15, 2007: I am working on refitting some spells to be more custom and flashy and, well..better! I found the Fighters skills being lacking in action since most are passive so I will refit him with more interactive abilities and make his avatar better than just growing, everyone likes a good lightshow!
1) You can fight through the forest as creatures spawn and bandits ambush you (mostly low to medium levels).
2) You can complete quests for the villagers of the town. Once you have completed enough and have completed a key quest that is only given through a chain of other quests you will be given an item (this will just be a trigger, so no actual item unless I can figure something out.) that allows you to travel the caves just north of the town (mostly medium to high levels).
As shown in my screenshots (shown below) for one of the bosses, more likely one of the final bosses, it takes several heroes to fight it and they still can't defeat it. This is because they have no items equipped which are being made as needed. Maps that allow you to be godly through tomes I find are lacking in good balance and variations.
Items will be important but they will also be so one item doesn't rule them all, it will take a combination of items and even then there are many combinations to try out. Some bosses will even require a specific item to be equiped in order to kill them, so they wont die to anything as long as you do not have that item.

Updates!
July 29, 2007: I am putting this project on hold. Reasons are that people don't seem to be interested in my map and I can't get them interested, maybe i'm not offering anything new, maybe I don't have a map with potential, whatever the case no one is willing to put out suggestions and I'm not going to bump it endlessly with no purpose. No one wants to pitch in with ideas, what i'm missing, what I can do without, fine. I don't care if this map never gets finished it's letting me learn new things each time. Also, a friend and I are starting to make a game video which will take some time. So I will not continue this at least untill we are done the video or going smoothly with it and have time off.July 15, 2007: I am working on refitting some spells to be more custom and flashy and, well..better! Gameplay
Your basic RPG, choose a class (One of Three) kill some units for experience to level up, buy items and such. However the main goal of my map is the quests that it'll provide. Hopefully I will have made a very large amount of Quests, some optional, others required to move on. For example, Players start off in a town that is right by a waterfall and tucked away inside a large forest with two ways out.1) You can fight through the forest as creatures spawn and bandits ambush you (mostly low to medium levels).

Heroes
As mentioned earlier there are 3 classes. The Fighter, the Spell Caster and the Marksman (Subject to name change). Each have a max level of 20 and 6 skills including the Ultimate and Attribute Bonus. All skills can be leveled up 10 times except the Ultimates(2 Levels) and Attributes(20 Levels). Through 20 levels you only have 20 skill points to use. I think this will provide some variety into the heroes skill level as there is no level skip requirement (besides the ultimate which is provided at level 6 and 12, which may also change).Hero Skills

Quests
Just a quickie on quests, whenever you complete a quest don't expect some gold and that's it. You will be rewarded plentifully with experience, gold and items you can't get elsewhere.Features
Real lights - Basically anything that gives off light (ie torch, firepit) are disabled during the day and enabled during the night.
