KERSHAW COUNTY, SC (WIS) - A Kershaw County man is sharing his story of survival. He faced a life or death decision when his hand got stuck in a piece of farm equipment, and then a fire broke out around him. What he did next might shock you, and we have to warn you that some of the details might be disturbing.

"If I was going to die here, I was going to put up a fight, and that's basically what I did," says Sampson Parker.

For Parker, it could've all ended on his Kershaw County farm. He noticed a corn-stalk stuck in an old rusty picker. "I went up with my hand and the roller that takes the shucks off the corn had grabbed the glove and pulled my hand into the rollers."

"The more I tried pulling my hand out, the farther up my hand went."

His skin was melting...?

Cutting off his own arm is [del]painful[/del] horrible, but melting is even more. That's why he doesn't mention pain when cutting off his own arm: The pain caused by burning is irrational, unbelievable. He had to get away, period :p

Whatever the price.

Very brave guy, it must suck holding a sandwich now. Woops, you dropped a pickle :p
But in all seriousness, that is a brave thing to cut off ANY body part without the expectation of dieing. Knowing full well that you lose it forever.

When you think about it, cutting your arm off is the coward's way out. He feared death so much he sacrificed a major part of his life to avoid it. That sounds cowardly to me. I really do think anyone would have done the same thing, if they were to think of it of course. Just because we all fear the Grim Reaper.

So he is a coward in a group of cowards who was forced to prove his cowardness. Wait, that might make this action brave. Ah, confusing crap this is.

Dude hacked off his own arm. That is a badass in my book despite the reason. I could not have done that

Because none of us are as cruel as all of us.

Lol at TheHelper :p

The reasons for the act is what make something "Cowardly" or "Brave". If he thought about his family, how he couldn't leave them yet, while cutting his arm, then he was brave, IMO. But if he truly didn't want to die just to live for himself, then that's Survival of the Fittest :p
If you have the choice to Live or to Die, which would you choose? To live because dying would be cowardly, or to Die because Living would be cowardly?

Takes some serious balls to pull that kind of shit off, I bet 90% ( or more ) of us would have just died in that fire crying like pansies. Anyone calling this badass coward can freely try it any day, like just cutting up yourself, say just to disconnect tendons. See if you can do that and then try come up with something like, say cutting your arm off.

Nonsense. If a man does not even have the right to his own life, then what does he have?

Simple truth is you dont have the right to your own death. It's not about you. And you don't get to choose when you die most of the time. Those that do are the exception.

That article was interesting!

That guy has guts. I still stand by my comments.

Don't have right over your own death ? I couldn't disagree more.

Every man has the right to decide his own fate, and for whatever reason it is no one has a thing to say to it. For whatever reason it is, you are free to end your own life when you see fit, if you got what it takes.

Of course there can be endless debate what are "good" or "right" reasons.

You guys say that hes a coward for doing it? Have you been faced with life or death, with the only way out would be cutting off your arm or a leg?

Until then, I don't think we have the right to judge them. Your body does go into survival mode when these types of things happen.

Signatures can be edit in your account profile. As for the old stuffs, I'm thinking it's because Blizzard is now under Microsoft, and because of Microsoft Xbox going the way it is, it's dreadful.

Crazy how much 3d printing has come in the last few years. Sad that it's not as easily modifiable though
  • Varine Varine:
I bought an Ender 3 during the pandemic and tinkered with it all the time. Just bought a Sovol, not as easy. I'm trying to make it use a different nozzle because I have a fuck ton of Volcanos, and they use what is basically a modified volcano that is just a smidge longer, and almost every part on this thing needs to be redone to make it work
  • Varine Varine:
Luckily I have a 3d printer for that, I guess. But it's ridiculous. The regular volcanos are 21mm, these Sovol versions are about 23.5mm
  • Varine Varine:
So, 2.5mm longer. But the thing that measures the bed is about 1.5mm above the nozzle, so if I swap it with a volcano then I'm 1mm behind it. So cool, new bracket to swap that, but THEN the fan shroud to direct air at the part is ALSO going to be .5mm to low, and so I need to redo that, but by doing that it is a little bit off where it should be blowing and it's throwing it at the heating block instead of the part, and fuck man
  • Varine Varine:
I didn't realize they designed this entire thing to NOT be modded. I would have just got a fucking Bambu if I knew that, the whole point was I could fuck with this. And no one else makes shit for Sovol so I have to go through them, and they have... interesting pricing models. So I have a new extruder altogether that I'm taking apart and going to just design a whole new one to use my nozzles. Dumb design.
  • Varine Varine:
Can't just buy a new heatblock, you need to get a whole hotend - so block, heater cartridge, thermistor, heatbreak, and nozzle. And they put this fucking paste in there so I can't take the thermistor or cartridge out with any ease, that's 30 dollars. Or you can get the whole extrudor with the direct driver AND that heatblock for like 50, but you still can't get any of it to come apart
  • Varine Varine:
Partsbuilt has individual parts I found but they're expensive. I think I can get bits swapped around and make this work with generic shit though
