Library Removed?

When I attempted to go into iTunes I get a message there is a new version of it, blah, blah blah. Ok I download the new version, and right after it finishes the download I open iTunes again. What happens? My 6g library is not there. Half of the songs that were in it weren't saved in the computer (taken from friends' CDs) and the other half is saved in random place on my computer....

No need to say, I must fix this, losing 6g of music is painful, especially if you can't restore it. I have been collecting the songs for over a year... It would certainly suck to lose them all.

Any way to get the library back?

Well I don't have any I- Stuff so
But if you uploaded most of songs to your I-pod can't you put them back into your computer?

No, becuase apple wants to keep iTunes legal (or somthing like that) and also my iPod broke recently.

Anyone knows how to fix this sort of thing?

also i didnt update my itunes, but i think when u get a song even from cd or downloading illegaly which im not..

they get in itunes , in libary file , and for me a file called My Music, or My Downloads ...

Try to do a search for music and can you log into something?

You can copy the stuff of the ipod ..i used this

that piece of software will allow you to taked the stuff off the ipod on to your computer..IMPORTANT..PLEASE REMEMBER THAT THE ITUNE AUTO UPDATE IPOD WILL NEED TO BE DISABLED OTHERWISE IT WILL WIPE THE MUSIC FROM THE IPOD

When you searched for Audio files, did you search in hidden folders too?

When searching, click on Advanced Options > More Advanced Options > Search Hidden Files and Folders

lol no, i guess you would have to move them 1 by 1 to your desired folder.

(View > Detailed > File location)

Well it still didn't find the whole files, and at least a third of what it found is copies or incompleted parts.... Thanks anyway Esb.

No problem, you should tried to contact iTunes ( I don't have iTunes so i don't know how it works either )

With all those the ONLY way you are going to get any data of the ipod is to send it off to one of the data recovery companys for examination...had a quick look on the net and it seems like its going to cost from about £90 (depending on the amount of data recovered)
