I'm especialist in locust.

so, what can I say?

first of all. LOCUST grants:
invulnerability.
unselectable.
unexistant.

so, the locust units aren't really there. thing in locust like a spirit or something like that, they can't be affected by NOTHING! but they can cast spells, pick itens and attack.

one of the bigger problems with locust is:
change collision to 0.00 (or it'll bllock other units)
change movement type to NONE (or the locust blocks other units too).

answer to your question, NO! u can't target locust and can't add buffs to them, also, u can't order a locust unit to cast battle roar, it'll not get any effect.
but, if you use a berserk ability, YES, the locust gains AS and MS.

Hope I've helped:D

have a unit with 0 armor and 120 hp

have locusts that do 100 chaos damage (make only one spawn and give it a really long cooldown for its attack)

have roar that gives +25% damage

If the target dies, then it gets the buff because it took 125 damage which would one hit him

If the unit survives, then the locoust dosent have the buff because it would have only dealt 100 damage to him

Locusts do exist, they appear in unit groups if you select the unit groups by unit type
They can be reffered to when they trigger a trigger via event responses
They have no collison so you dont need to do all that, they wont block anything

For the berserk ability, your gona ned to have the game force the locoust to use it, you cant select the units that have the locoust ability so you cant manualy order them to use it, same for any other spell

Your partially wrong, Locust units can be hit by some spells, E.G: Immolation. And yes, Psiblade is right, you don't need to give them the collision thing. Do what he said, I'm pretty sure it would work.

Hmmm... Not sure how you define collision but Locust unit doesn't have collision to me. Surround a normal unit, say Knight, with hundreds of Locust units and the Knight can just walk through the Locust units without any problem. Surround the Locust units with trees or other doodads, then order the Locust units to move, they will move through the doodads.

Don't you feel that the statements above seem like contradicting to each other? They can't cast spell but they can? They can't get buffed but they can?

Edit:
Oh yeah, to answer the thread question. Another easier way to determine whether a unit can get passive buff is by using Unholy Aura with high negative regeneration. See if the units die or not when getting the buff. They don't get passively buffed ,actually.
