making a map bigger than 256X256

I want to do a scenario based on making a country. Unfortunately I get a good portion of the country and I have no more room. I remember there is a program I had when I first started map making and it made the map up to like four hundred by four hundred. Am I just crazy or is there really a program like that

Get newgen editor. You should be able to make maps up to 480x480. You may need to enable UMSWE (an option in the editor).

i found w.e. unlimited. Is that basically the same thing or is it worse..?

Worse. WEU is outdated, and many of its extra GUI functions are fond of keeping your map from even starting. <Insert people screaming "MAP CORRUPTION" here.>
