Map causes WC3 to exit

Hello, up until recently, a map I was working on was fine whenever I selected a unit. However, the map now causes one to outright exit WC3 whenever certain units/buildings are selected. Right now, there are only two Altar-based buildings that cause this problem.

If there is additional information needed, I'll try to answer as much as I can as soon as possible.

Hmm... Well, I turned off all of my most recently applied/editted triggers and tried running the map again. Selecting the Altars still caused the map to close down.

If it helps at all, none of my triggers have an event "When a unit is selected" or whatever it may be, and most of my triggers are made in the GUI. I'm using stuff like If/Then/Else and For(Integer A/B). But as far as I know, it's not possible to do something like a "while" loop in the GUI, so I don't know how I may be making an infinite loop.

It should come up a list with errors then, try to change the files... but what do I know, I'm just a dumb swede
Nope, no error messages.

Any unknown abilities on your Altars?
No, just Select Unit and Invulnerable(Neutral). I did try removing my more recent Heroes from the Altars, in case those were causing the problem, but that didn't help either. I did edit Select Unit and it's area sizes, but I don't know why that would be causing the problems.

you cant click it in WE or in game play?
I can't click the Altars during gameplay, or else WC3 closes itself.

It definetly sounds like your running an infinate loop. And it can happen if you have For Every Integer from 1 to -10.

There is no other way to crash Warcraft without getting an error message. Even stacking Spellbooks inside Spellbooks or Orb of Lightning inside Orb of Lighting.

Look on the files, maybe you find some cute stuff <3 <3
Specifically which files? If you're referring to the text files in *\Warcraft III\Errors, the files are from before I even started working on the map.

Hmm... well I looked over the triggers again, and whenever I was using a For(Integer A) Loop, I made it go from 1 to 6 (for Hero inventories) or from 1 to 12 (for each Player #).

No that doesn't sound like crash material. I don't supose your doing the other stuff I have there or something is happening at the exact same time you select the altar?

Nope, I don't have anything else running. And it's specifically those two Altars as well; I can select other Altars and hire Heroes out of them and continue the game as is.

Nope, my units are all using known abilities.

Alright then, copy your altars to another map and try them, then post that map up here.

@ Jazradel: Actually, this may seem lazy and informal, but would you mind me sending the map to you via email? I moved the Altars to a new map, removed any units from it which were specific to my map, and I was able to click on said Altars just fine.

So I'm guessing the problem most likely lies with one of my Heroes that I made hireable at the Altar (like Zakyath said), but everything else worked up till now. But I guess I'm not experienced enough with the World Editor, since I can't tell what's wrong :(

There is an very easy way to se if it is a trigger error or an object editor error:
Disable ALL triggers in the map. Test. If it still crashes it is in the object editor, else it is in a trigger.

If it is in a trigger it is in one of those who are triggered when you select the unit.

If it is in the object editor it is either the altar itself or one of the heroes inside.
Or one of the spells that the heroes has, or one of the units that the spell summon, ect.

Well, it may be a trigger (?) why don't you put it up (the triggers)?
Well, cause there's a lot of them. They're not fantastically big or anything, but I suppose I can try posting them up later. Also, I use the Code tag to indicate a trigger, right?

Haha, phyrex1an gave me a good idea.

So I tried disabling all the triggers, then ran the map. When I selected the problematic Altars, WC3 closed itself.

So apparently it's one of the Heroes in the Altars.

So I removed all the Heroes from the Altars, and I was able to click on them during the game.

Then I added in two specific Heroes back into the Altars, and my problem appeared again for both Altars.

Okay, so let's see: In my map, I have two Heroes that have Ultimates based off of Metamorphosis, the Dark Stalker and the Swordsman. These two are the problematic Heroes. They both have abilities which activate triggers, but I don't think that's the problem.

Because the two Heroes have a Meta based Ultimate and have five different copies of themselves for their Ultimate, I've made it so that each of the Heroes have "Equivalent Dependencies" with their level 1 version, level 2 version, up to level 5 version of themselves.

I suppose that's not a good idea?

Depends: Has the 'Level' units Equivalent Dependencies to the base unit? If so remove that. The base unit should have Equivalent Dependencies with all the level units, the level units should have that field empty.

Look at the real Demon Hunter for reference.

Oh... so that was it o_O' I suppose that might cause a loop.

The base Heroes have Equivalent Dependency with the level Heroes, and the level Heroes have Equivalent Dependency with their respective base Heroes.

Thnx much ^_^
