My new map idea: Sillicon Valley style !

hi there,

Since my last map idea (element battle) got NO reply's at all, i'm trying to make a new sort of map.

If any1 knows sillicon Valley on the nintendo 64, the game is basedon that game.

You begin with a little dune Worm that can crawl inside other units brain and take over control. When the little worm isnt inside any unit it slowly loses life.

when you have a lvl 1 Worm you can only go inside other lvl 1 neutral creeps that are all over the map. every different animal can use different ability's. I first wanted to use all the real animals like frog, rabbit, sheep and so on, but they dont have any attack animations, so i changed to the bad-ass creeps :D

When the worm is inside a other unit it can attack and use the ability's of that creep. Your Worm get experience with killing other units (based on the value of the creep, dont know where the real exp points are coming from ?)
Also when you are inside a creep, your dune worm "becomes" a item
inside the inventory of the creep you are controlling. I cant put variables inside item descripsion, so the item cant say how much life your dune worm has left (thats what this game about)

The first one that can kill the other 9 player wins.

Ofcourse higher creeps have better ability's and better stats.

Also i;m thinking of creating something like, that you can learn ability's to your dune worm, so you can use them with all creeps you go inside.

I guess a map like this hasnt been made before. But the problems are already popping up.

Problems so far:
- lvl check when you pass the dune worm (item form) to another creep.
- dune worm learning ability's so all the creeps he enter can use em, but not the dune worm itself.
- a decent map :D

sounds ausome. make it 3rd person keyboard controls. i have alot of trigger ideas. what is the goal? make it so you can save your worm. i could do/help with terraining i saw some pretty cool desert tile sets on wc3sear.ch. good idea

A 3d-person view keyboard control sounds very nice, Never did that before tho, so dont know how to make it really :D But i guess i will find out after some tries.

Guess i'm going to continue on this map after more then a year :) I still got it here on the computer, and i just wanted to share this info with you guys.

Hmm, Sounds like a mini-game from Uther Party. Maybe you could give it a twist? So say if you control a unit it gives that ability to your worm? For say 5.. casts?

Sounds cool (to the original post). Actually. It sounds kinda like Animorphs in a way. And a mix of aliens too.
So the only unit you control is the one that has the worm?
And I'm guessing..."Dune Worm"... so the terrain would be sandy?
Personally I wouldn't make this 3D.

Never played Uther party before, so i dont know about that. Gonna play it right away.

And yes, you only control the unit you took over with your dune worm. And with killing units with that creep, you get exp on your dune worm. So your dunw worm levels up, and then you can take over even higher level creeps.

Because you can learn abilities to your dune worm, those abilities you can use then in each other creep you takeover, you can have many many possible combinations.

Some creeps are very rare, and those have some nice abilities, so you really have to seek for them.

Also, i'm not planning on Uber abilities. But i like the idea more of combinations of abilities.


One problem i'm facing now, is when you try to kill eachother, you can keep flipping from unit. So you just never die. I'm trying to make some sort of cooldown on the takeover abilitie, to overcome this problem.

Or how about a "Spear/Catch Worm" ability?
Or a net?
Or a gop of goo that makes the worm unable to move?
Some creeps have a worm catching ability?
What about the worm itself "Spit Acid/Poison/Slow" ?

Well, naked worms shouldnt be a problem. Once you are out of a creep you slowely lose life over time. But once you are in a certain creep, you also have the ability to just swap to another creep, without touching the ground.

Also, adding a cooldown to the "swap or exit" ability is harder then i thought. Because when you go inside a creep, the creep is givin the "swap ior exit" ability. Now, you cant trigger the cooldown itself. So now i have to make a dummy ability first, then i have to force that ability the be executed (i dont know how i have to do this, with the ,issue order with no target, action you cant take costum abilities.) When that ability is done, the cooldown starts moving. Once the cooldown is over, i remove the dummy ability again, and finally you get te "swap or exit" ability.

To trigger this off, its harder then i thought.
