Raiders VS Defenders. - Fun read I promise.
Two clan of orc at war over resources are separated only by a river. For years the Gorhaust clan has had their gold stolen by a band of raiders who work for Warchief Groklan. After the Gorhaust clan sent their best men to deal with these six raiders and none came back, it seemed that this group of thieves was just unstoppable. Tonight, Gorhaust puts everything on the line and hires mercanaries of his own.
As a raider, your warchief Groklan trusts you to end it all tonight, and destroy Gorhaust; Who has entered the battlefield to watch over his group of hired help!
As a defender, warchief Gorhaust is paying you everything he has to turn the tables.
Victory condition: Kill the enemy warchief, who has left his clan walls to watch the battle to end them all.
Raiders is an AOS.
I'm flame retardant so don't bash me for using the dota item set, this may only be temporary until I develop one I find to be as wholesome. (not to mention it took me about 35 hours to add them to my map, it's a tribute, not something I did just because im lazy.)
I started working on raiders a little over a year ago, with some on and off time since then, it's had a LOT of work put into it. Despite this, it is no where near polished or even ready for the first release. This is how I want it to play.
There's one objective, Kill the enemy warchief to win. Warchiefs do insane aoe damage through an immolation type skill though, so defeating them is nearly impossible without a crystal to negate this damage. The entirety of the game will be spent farming for this crystal, in addition to other items which will help you take down this warchief.
There are four ways to earn money for each team.
One, The lane game - Follow your creeps around and earn experience/gold trying to get the last hit on enemy creeps in your lane.
Two, Capture the Nodes - There are four nodes on the map, Nodes consist of a tower guarded by a Spirit Walker. A node can be captured five seconds after approaching it, if there are no enemies within range. These nodes give gold every few seconds to the team that owns them.
Three, Caravans - This will be the primary source of income for both teams. Raiders(team one) must raid caravans, which deliver gold from gold mines placed around the map to team 2's base. Defenders(team 2) earn gold when they ensure the safety of/escort these caravans to team 2's base and get a portion of the gold left on the kodos when they finish their voyage.
Four, Creeping in the Woods - Self explanatory.
So far I have had a lot of help from Jazradel, Rinpun, and a little from Luth too.
Also thanks to "antistone" for the original map idea. Although the map in its current state is almost nothing like his suggestion. http://www.mindflare.com/wc3maps/
PROGRESS
The caravan system has a start in its development... but it isn't very clean... I need someone very good to develop it for me. I dont trust I could do that well of a job myself
I have 13 fun heros, they're pretty well done, except for some tooltips which are incomplete.
For Items right now im using a set from dota because it's so important that they should be good... I don't want to make the release with anything sub-par.
Nodes are done, but i could use a better alert system to show that what nodes are under control of what player and to sort of encourage newbies to get into the game of capturing them.
Help menu - Could use one.
Terrain - Done, i'm pretty happy with it.
I took a bunch of screenshots and compiled them into three images so you guys dont need to click a million links. Might not be so fun for people w/o broadband though. Here ya go.
