Save/Load Code Idea

I have been learning Jass for a little while now, and I have noticed that you can access outside programs/txt documents with Jass code.

I was just thinking of an idea for a save/load system. When you save, it gives you instructions to create a txt doc in a specific folder in your documents, and then when you save it saves the code into the txt document,

backtrack, when you save, you input a password, like -save ****** and the password is added to your code,

now when you load all you say is -load password and then it goes to your txt file finds the correct code and then your stuff is loaded.

Anyway tell me if this is a good idea or if it can be done?

Thanks :D

Can't be done.

JASS used to be able to execute byte code, but no longer (as far as we know).

Well, in the new map that came out, Risk Next Generation, Psyco made it send stats to the website? How did he do this?

At least one person needs to have a program running while playing the game which sends the data.

Usually people with hostbots do this.

Yes. You'd just need to have the hostbot (or not even a hostbot, any bot that hooks WC3) to detect when players type -save, and then get the output from WC3, save that to a .txt file or upload it to a site.

And who's hosting?
A server or his computer?

That MIGHT make the number of hosts small and that's not what you want if your map is epic but the hassle is a bit too much.
Took me forever to figure out how to use a Host-Bot last time (Ghost)
Is speaking of host-bots looked down on? o.0

If you're hostbot is ran all day, then that is all people will join because it will become the standard for your map.

Here's what you do.

You download a hostbot.

You find/host a BNLS Warden server. (I host my own)

You launch the hostbot (In this case, I use GHost One with my own BNLS Warden Server)

You set the bot to autohost with autostart.

Now, the bot will host your map every so often until you turn it off.

At the end of each of these games, the hostbot will detect players "saving" and upload those to your database (wherever this may be)

Then, players can go to that database, (i.e. host it on a domain like yourmap.com) and find their load codes.

well, can the host bot take things from the website to use in the map? Cuz what I was thinking was having players have to load codes at all anymore? Like you say -load, the hostbot access the site, then inputs the code for that player and then the player's stuff load

That's possible. The bot would just "type" the load code like it does stuff like the say command.

How can you do that? I've never heard of it, other than with the return bug.

Signatures can be edit in your account profile. As for the old stuffs, I'm thinking it's because Blizzard is now under Microsoft, and because of Microsoft Xbox going the way it is, it's dreadful.

Crazy how much 3d printing has come in the last few years. Sad that it's not as easily modifiable though
  • Varine Varine:
I bought an Ender 3 during the pandemic and tinkered with it all the time. Just bought a Sovol, not as easy. I'm trying to make it use a different nozzle because I have a fuck ton of Volcanos, and they use what is basically a modified volcano that is just a smidge longer, and almost every part on this thing needs to be redone to make it work
  • Varine Varine:
Luckily I have a 3d printer for that, I guess. But it's ridiculous. The regular volcanos are 21mm, these Sovol versions are about 23.5mm
  • Varine Varine:
So, 2.5mm longer. But the thing that measures the bed is about 1.5mm above the nozzle, so if I swap it with a volcano then I'm 1mm behind it. So cool, new bracket to swap that, but THEN the fan shroud to direct air at the part is ALSO going to be .5mm to low, and so I need to redo that, but by doing that it is a little bit off where it should be blowing and it's throwing it at the heating block instead of the part, and fuck man
  • Varine Varine:
I didn't realize they designed this entire thing to NOT be modded. I would have just got a fucking Bambu if I knew that, the whole point was I could fuck with this. And no one else makes shit for Sovol so I have to go through them, and they have... interesting pricing models. So I have a new extruder altogether that I'm taking apart and going to just design a whole new one to use my nozzles. Dumb design.
  • Varine Varine:
Can't just buy a new heatblock, you need to get a whole hotend - so block, heater cartridge, thermistor, heatbreak, and nozzle. And they put this fucking paste in there so I can't take the thermistor or cartridge out with any ease, that's 30 dollars. Or you can get the whole extrudor with the direct driver AND that heatblock for like 50, but you still can't get any of it to come apart
  • Varine Varine:
Partsbuilt has individual parts I found but they're expensive. I think I can get bits swapped around and make this work with generic shit though
