I once tried to create a camera system that follows the unit and is able to rotate/zoom by moving the mouse curser to the borders of the screen. So, this is an old question but i could not find a good answer to it.
How to scroll zoom? or is it only possible with arrow keys or other keys?
tnx in advance.
I once tried to create a camera system that follows the unit and is able to rotate/zoom by moving the mouse curser to the borders of the screen.
I accomplished this by setting the screen to the unit periodically and comparing the last position of the camera to the new one to detect microscopic screen movement.
It works fine and reacts MUCH faster than any arrow key control. (Reacts with 40 fps, even in bnet)
However, as all panning of the camera interupts mouse scrolling, I had to use CameraBounds, which fucks up the minimap and is also much slower than panning the camera.
All in all I couldn't get the system to run faster than with 10-12 fps - which is too slow for smooth camera movement.
So, conclusion:
No, this is not possible.
Is your system able to rotate/zoom when the character is moving? I guess not. And maybe I also got like 20 fps - actually, I'm pretty sure I got 20 fps (camera position pdate interval is 25 ms, you can use every second interval when using cam bounds, which equals 25 fps max) ... however, the lagging was still noticable, so I gave up on it.10-12 fps?
Mine is running at about 18-20.
