Hello guys,

I gave my 'earth tower' a weapon which is called 'Stones'

- I am using the photon cannonballs and set the color of this to brown, the tower is now pretending to fire 'Stones', this works well till now!

- I set the model/actor name of the cannonballs to 'Big Stones'

- I duplicated the big stones model/actor and called it 'Small Stones' and scaled this to 50% of the big stones

- I duplicated the big stones model/actor again and called it 'mini stones' and scaled this to 25% of the big stones

- now when the big stones (weapon) impact the creeps, there should be created 4 small stones when the big stone explodes (I tried this by triggers but it's not working!)

- if there are no other creeps nearby, the 4 small stones must just fall on the ground somewhere nearby and disappear

- where can I program that when the big stone hits a creep, it splashes into 4 'small stones'?

- I want use the same impact (explosion) for the small stones, I want to use 'mini stones' for this one

- when a big stone impacts a creep, it always must break into 4 small stones

- only ONE small stone may target ONE other creep, this means if a big stone hits a creep and there is only one creep nearby this creep, only one stone should move in it's direction and hits this creep, the other 3 small stones should just fall onto the ground and disappear after

- if there are 10 creeps nearby, then the 4 small stones must pick a random target

- when a small stone hits a creep, it must break into 4 'mini stones', the mini stones are not going to hit other creeps, they just serve as animation of the 'small_stone_explosion' and must disappear nearby the explosion

(the thing I try to create, is it the same like the 'mutalisk weapon'?)


I really do like this element of my tower defense but I just don't know how to create it
It would be VERY nice if somebody can help me with this

Yes I would be basing it off the Mutalisk weapon. When your "Big Stone" weapon fires, make the Impact Effect a new effect of the type Set. In this set effect, you need to have your damage effect for the "Big Stone" and a search effect that finds at maximum four targets and executes a Launch Effect to launch the "Small Stone" weapon.

The only part that I am unsure about is trying to create stones that just fall onto the ground when there are not enough nearby targets. You might be able to do it by using a launch missile effect with the target just being a small offset from the unit, but you would still need a way of figuring out how many of these missiles to create. I might think about it some more and see if I can come up with a solution for this.

thx dave but how do I create the 4 launch missile effects when the big stone impacts a creep? (same for the mini stones)

Ok so I've been working on this for a while now, and am still yet to get this working 100%. I have however managed to successfully create a weapon which fires a Big Stone at a target, splits into up to 4 Small Stones which target nearby enemies and then once it hits these targets, splits into 4 Tiny Stones which land near their target unit. What this doesn't do is create Small Stones which just fall on the ground for every Small stone that is not aimed at a target.

I have also been able to create a weapon which fires a Big Stone at a target, then if there is no targets nearby, splits into 4 Small Stones which fall onto the ground. If there is a nearby target, then it a fires 1 Small Stone at 1 nearby target and then splits into 4 Tiny Stones which fall on the ground near this target.

What I am struggling to do is to get the second weapon mentioned above to fire up to 4 small stones at 4 targets (I can currently only get it to work for 1). I think I have a method which might get this to work with 4 small stones, but it means I am going to have to create about 40 effects to get it to work correctly. What I want to know is whether you want this require creating 4o effects? Does it need to work exactly as you said in your first post? Or can we change it slightly (such as always having 4 Small Stones fall onto the ground after the Big Stone hits its target regardless of how many Small Stones go after a target)?

it's no problem if it's gonna changes slightly, but do you mean that all 4 small stones will go to 1 unit if it's nearby an exploding big stone? (also if there are 2 units nearby, the small stones pick 1 of this 2 and go to 1 creep all 4?

I way I think I'll do it is have Big stone explode into up to four Small Stones which will target nearby units (four different targets) and explode into 4 Small Stones which fall onto the ground nearby as well. So in all, the Big Stone which break up into between 4 and 8 small stones, depending on how many targets are nearby. The small stones that hit targets will then also break up into 4 tiny stones.

I still need some more time to iron out the bugs, but I should hopefully be able to post the test map this weekend/early next week.

do you mean that there actually coming 8 small stones from a big stone, but you just see it like there are 4?

You will see what I mean when you view the test map. I have give the stones weapon to the photon cannon. Just target the weapon at the zerglings.

I have slowed down the movement speed of the stones so you can easily see them move between targets. You will probably want to speed them up and give them an arc motion (I recommend something like the Terran Molotov Cocktail weapon) but I'll let you sort that out.

Also I haven't added any sound or visual effects because I wasn't sure what you wanted.

Let me know if you need any help changing stuff or how exactly it works.

    I bought an Ender 3 during the pandemic and tinkered with it all the time. Just bought a Sovol, not as easy. I'm trying to make it use a different nozzle because I have a fuck ton of Volcanos, and they use what is basically a modified volcano that is just a smidge longer, and almost every part on this thing needs to be redone to make it work

    Luckily I have a 3d printer for that, I guess. But it's ridiculous. The regular volcanos are 21mm, these Sovol versions are about 23.5mm

    So, 2.5mm longer. But the thing that measures the bed is about 1.5mm above the nozzle, so if I swap it with a volcano then I'm 1mm behind it. So cool, new bracket to swap that, but THEN the fan shroud to direct air at the part is ALSO going to be .5mm to low, and so I need to redo that, but by doing that it is a little bit off where it should be blowing and it's throwing it at the heating block instead of the part, and fuck man

    I didn't realize they designed this entire thing to NOT be modded. I would have just got a fucking Bambu if I knew that, the whole point was I could fuck with this. And no one else makes shit for Sovol so I have to go through them, and they have... interesting pricing models. So I have a new extruder altogether that I'm taking apart and going to just design a whole new one to use my nozzles. Dumb design.

    Can't just buy a new heatblock, you need to get a whole hotend - so block, heater cartridge, thermistor, heatbreak, and nozzle. And they put this fucking paste in there so I can't take the thermistor or cartridge out with any ease, that's 30 dollars. Or you can get the whole extrudor with the direct driver AND that heatblock for like 50, but you still can't get any of it to come apart
