Unit Entering Region...

I am trying to make an area with random explosions inside that damage you. This is what I came up with:

Trigger 1:
Event - Every 5 seconds
Condition - n/a
Action:
Center Region A on (Random point in Region B)
Create a special effect at Center of Region A using xxxxxxx

Trigger 2:
Event - A unit enters Region A
Condition - n/a
Action - Cause Unit X to damage (Entering Unit) dealing 100 damage of attack type Chaos and damage type Fire.

What should happen here (correct me if I'm wrong) is that every 5 seconds, Region A will be moved to a random point in Region B, and if any unit enters Region A (seen with the special effect) it will take 100 damage.

The problem is, its not working. Not only does it not deal damage when the Region moves on a unit, but also if I try to strictly follow the trigger and enter the region AFTER it appears, it also doesn't work. Now I'm completely stumped...my question is 2 parts: 1) Is there a way that allows the trigger to detect a unit already inside a region (not entering), and 2) Why is no damage being dealt? If you need more info please say so...I have a habit of not telling everything for the sake of simplicity.

I don't think that if you move a region on unit that the unit enters the region then :X

That would be the most logical thing.

I can suggest this if the region isn't too big otherwise you have to make multiple casts. It's something I used in one of my maps and here you can change the region too.
The only difference is it won't always hit the unit unless you make big effect and big aoe or you need to do it more times with point polar offset and for every integer [a/b]

1. Well, after that "Center Region A on (Random point in Region B)" action, add this:
Trigger:
  • Set TempGroup = (Units in Region 1 &lt;gen&gt;)
    • If (All Conditions are True) then do (Then Actions) else do (Else Actions)
      • If - Conditions
        • (Number of units in TempGroup) Greater than 0
      • Then - Actions
        • Unit Group - Pick every unit in TempGroup and do (Actions)
          • Loop - Actions
            • Unit - Cause No unit to damage (Picked unit), dealing 100.00 damage of attack type Chaos and damage type Fire
      • Else - Actions
    • Custom script: call DestroyGroup(udg_TempGroup)


2. What unit is "Unit X" ? :S

Hm tried it, seems that the MoveRect native doesn't work as far as i testet it.
You have the following possibility:

Instead of the MoveRect command you may use the Jass native "SetRect":


Trigger:
  • Custom script: call SetRect(udg_*your_rect_var*, -1, -1, +1, +1)


This line will set the rectvar "your_rect_var" from [-1,-1] to [1,1]

Hmm, thats a good idea Komaqtion, to make temp unit group. I'll try it out and post here to say if it worked. Unit X is a random neutral unit I made just for this purpose =p. Oh...would perhaps it being neutral have something to do with it too?

Btw: "Custom script: call DestroyGroup(udg_TempGroup)", what does that custom script do?

dealing XXXX damage doesnt matter if the unit can attack or not its just if the neutral has hero nearby it gets exp thats the only part u should think about

    I bought an Ender 3 during the pandemic and tinkered with it all the time. Just bought a Sovol, not as easy. I'm trying to make it use a different nozzle because I have a fuck ton of Volcanos, and they use what is basically a modified volcano that is just a smidge longer, and almost every part on this thing needs to be redone to make it work

    Luckily I have a 3d printer for that, I guess. But it's ridiculous. The regular volcanos are 21mm, these Sovol versions are about 23.5mm

    So, 2.5mm longer. But the thing that measures the bed is about 1.5mm above the nozzle, so if I swap it with a volcano then I'm 1mm behind it. So cool, new bracket to swap that, but THEN the fan shroud to direct air at the part is ALSO going to be .5mm to low, and so I need to redo that, but by doing that it is a little bit off where it should be blowing and it's throwing it at the heating block instead of the part, and fuck man

And no one else makes shit for Sovol so I have to go through them, and they have... interesting pricing models. So I have a new extruder altogether that I'm taking apart and going to just design a whole new one to use my nozzles. Dumb design.

    Can't just buy a new heatblock, you need to get a whole hotend - so block, heater cartridge, thermistor, heatbreak, and nozzle. And they put this fucking paste in there so I can't take the thermistor or cartridge out with any ease, that's 30 dollars. Or you can get the whole extrudor with the direct driver AND that heatblock for like 50, but you still can't get any of it to come apart
