war3 model editor problem

ok i re-downloaded this, but when ever i try to use war3 model
editor, it brings up the open with menu, with several programs listed on my pc.
when ever i use the browse menu and find it, it will not recognize it as a program and will try to open it with notepad.

but the wierder thing is, i did not delete the first one.

I believe you need to browse and use the war3.exe to function the W3 Model Editor.

ok i moved it into the warcraft main folder, but that did not work

Did you browse the War3.exe? Just double-click on your model editor and something pops up right? Find War3.exe and click on it and it should work fine.

War3.exe? Dude thats wc3 not the model editor.

War3ModelEditor is an application, should run on its own when you open it. If it isn't working properly you accidently changed the settings of your computer to open it with something, when it should just open. If it doesn't run, propbably because you took it out of its folder, it needs all of its data to run peroperly, just extract it from the zip to your desktop, all of the zip.

I thought that it would work because that's what I did in my WEU.

You don't browse the War3.exe, you browse the war3.mpq

So, are you having startup problems or opening problems? Make sure the file extension is .mdx or .blp.

the editor it self opens, but when ever i try to open a model (by clicking on its icon) up it brings up the "open with", when it never has done that before: all of the files are with it.
