hello, ive been spending the last longg while trying to add some webapplications exe files i'd like the server to run. what ways can I run applications on the serve r? really im trying to specifically create a ventrillo server off a site. 'online server' im not quite sure where to go in having the exe actually run, since i am very new at particularly that.. any help would be amazing

See System program execution, namely exec or system.
Note though that you can't run an exe if your webserver isn't Windows-based (duh) and that most hosts either don't allow it or have it disabled.

i have linux. i dont understand how i could have the ventrilo webserver running without most these php funcs, since it is linux.id still like to figure out how to get a vent webserver running somehow but i dont know which direction to go to. And i dont know if there even is a workaround with this i besides a having the access to php.ini and those functions?..

i can find alot of help on the local sever seraching for that help, but really that is just confusing me when i want to put this app on my websever? tired confused donno what im doing. i look all over google but i cant seem to figure out how to actually add this vent to a webserver. what it looks like to me is that one would have to pay for that 'ventrillo server' i dont think i could run it on there thanks for the help

First thing is that you probably not want to start the vent server from a php script, unless you are writing an admin web front-end which I don't think you are.

Second thing is that you have to check if you can run other programs on your server, this is something that many (most?) hosts don't allow.

Third thing is to follow the instructions on the ventrilo home page: http://ventrilo.com/setup.php#Server_Installing (UNIX platform is the instructions for you).
