SOLVED! i just used a chain of separate triggers instead of one large trigger and it seemed to fix things

trigger 1
Trigger:
  • Skip 2
    • Events
      • Unit - A unit Starts the effect of an ability
    • Conditions
      • (Disco Floor 2 <gen> contains (Triggering unit)) Equal to True
      • (Ability being cast) Equal to Skip
    • Actions
      • Unit - Move (Triggering unit) instantly to (Center of Disco Floor 3 <gen>)
      • Item - Remove (Item carried by (Triggering unit) of type Skip)

Trigger 2 and so on..
Trigger:
  • Skip 1
    • Events

      • (Disco Floor 1 <gen> contains (Triggering unit)) Equal to True
      • (Ability being cast) Equal to Skip
    • Actions
