Completly Removing Unit Collision on a Ship

Any way to do this easily? I can think of some obscure ways to do this off the top of my head, but I'd rather have it "easily" done if possible.

Ghost (visible) does not work on ships. If it did, it would be perfect.

Turning off collision allows the ships to go on land, which is not what I want either.

thanks.

Are you trying to remove the ship's collision, or the collision of a unit on the ship?

Have you tried ethereal? They can go through units. I think...

@Ghan_04: The ship's collision.

Where would I define the unit as "ethereal"? Or do you mean adding the ability "Ethereal."

EDIT: Adding the "ethereal" ability did not work.

i think it's the "targeted as" type u need 2 change 2 etheral

But it's not being targeted that's the problem. It's movement. I don't know if you can do that without the ship being able to go up on land. You might try a pathing blocker for ground surrounding the water, but, can you be more specific about what you're trying to do that you need to disable collision?

I'm making a ship that is called the "Ghostrider" which has the special ability that it is not affected by collision of other ships. This allows it to maneuver much better in battles or in narrow passage-ways (which are possibly blocked by other ships).

To put it simply, I need a way to simulate the Ghost(visible) ability.

1. What about setting the collision size to 0 in the object editor?

2. Do you mean that when you add Ghost (Visible) to the ship, it does nothing? If so, then maybe ships have to have collision.

1. It still runs into other ships. I tried 0.00, 0.01, etc.

2. Yes, it does nothing when I add that ability.

Hmm... I'm rapidly running out of ideas.... Try making Check Dependencies false for the Ghost (Visible) ability.

set collision to zero then just use a trig to move the unit if it goes on land

Ghan_04: that didn't work.

WolSHaman: that would be too messy in-game, not to mention glitch-prone. My computer is too slow for me to have time to thoroughly test all the land on the map.

What if you took off the classification of mechanical? It might be that that ability doesn't work with mechanical units.

Have you tried changing the movement type of the boat?

Hmm... I would try Foot, because if Ghost (Visible) works with that type of movement, then the boat could still be in the water. The only problem is if there's a place where you have shallow water leading up a ramp to solid ground, because then the boat could go on land.

Well, I was thinking it could if it had the Ghost (Visible) ability. I'm not sure, though.

News portal has been retired. Main page of site goes to Headline News forum now
  • The Helper The Helper:
I am working on getting access to the old news portal under a different URL for those that would rather use that for news before we get a different news view.
  • Ghan Ghan:
    Easily done

https://www.thehelper.net/pages/news/ is a link to the old news portal - i will integrate it into the interface somewhere when i figure it out
  • Ghan Ghan:
    Need to try something
  • Ghan Ghan:
    Hopefully this won't cause problems.
  • Ghan Ghan:
    Hmm
  • Ghan Ghan:
I have converted the Headline News forum to an Article type forum. It will now show the top 20 threads with more detail of each thread.
  • Ghan Ghan:
    See how we like that.
  • The Helper The Helper:
I do not see a way to go past the 1st page of posts on the forum though
  • The Helper The Helper:
It is OK though for the main page to open up on the forum in the view it was before. As long as the portal has its own URL so it can be viewed that way I do want to try it as a regular forum view for a while
  • Ghan Ghan:
Yeah I'm not sure what the deal is with the pagination.
  • Ghan Ghan:
It SHOULD be there so I think it might just be an artifact of having an older style.
  • Ghan Ghan:
I switched it to a "Standard" article forum. This will show the thread list like normal, but the threads themselves will have the first post set up above the rest of the "comments"
  • The Helper The Helper:
I don't really get that article forum but I think it is because I have never really seen it used on a multi post thread
  • Ghan Ghan:
RpNation makes more use of it right now as an example: https://www.rpnation.com/news/
