"Everybody loves" II: Murlocs

My last map, "Elfhame" (www.thehelper.net/forums/showthread.php?t=41075), wasn't as well-received as I hoped, partly because a lot of potential testers didn't like the idea of non-Warcraft elves. With that in mind, I decided my next melee map would conform to Warcraft as much as possible, while still retaining enough originality to make it interesting.

As far as I know, nobody's made a map where you can play as the Murlocs.

"Murfolk" is a four-player melee map with two teams: two Naga players in the north, and a Murloc and Makrura player in the south. Most of the units are unchanged from their Warcraft stats, though I have had to make some exceptions for the sake of gameplay:

- The Makrura Tidal Lord and Sea Giant Behemoth are now Makrura heroes.
- The Murloc Sorcerer from the Frozen Throne demo has been given more spells.
- Murloc Tiderunners are now the workers for the Murlocs.
- The Makrura have several custom units, including two kinds of hydra, a worker crab, and a "transport turtle".
- Food costs for the Murlocs have been reduced, to give them that "evil ganking b******s" feel.

Uh...no, I don't recall everyone hating murlocs. Murlocs are cool, which is why one of my projects is an AoS with them versus the Naga.

Heh! I was making a murloc/turtle map, was cool but I got bored because of some minor things that I couldn't decide. Everyone is making murloc maps now :D <3.

Im working on terrain for a murloc map at the moment. someone in my clan is making a murloc tribes thing like the troll tribe maps.

Murlocs do rock, almost as much as Ogre's which is the ultimate wc3 creatures :cool:

Yes, the brutal bashing power of ogres is virtually unmatched, and the way they jiggle their bellies with pride is an inspiration to us all.

A-ha, but can an ogre swim?

Hooray for days off of work!

Right, I'll leave the map up for a few more days, just in case anybody has any suggestions for terraining, unit balance, etc. If there aren't any, I'll go ahead and start making a Murloc-Makrura campaign, and put "Elfhame" back on the forums (which definitely needed some tweaking...).

Technically, that's not a bug. The animators at Blizzard forgot to make a Makrura swim animation, so if you give them "amphibious" movement, they just walk on top of the water. I thought that looked silly, so I kept them land- and shallows-based. But I have given the Makrura some hydras, and turtles to ride, which do have a swim animation. :)

    Signatures can be edit in your account profile. As for the old stuffs, I'm thinking it's because Blizzard is now under Microsoft, and because of Microsoft Xbox going the way it is, it's dreadful.

    Crazy how much 3d printing has come in the last few years. Sad that it's not as easily modifiable though

    I bought an Ender 3 during the pandemic and tinkered with it all the time. Just bought a Sovol, not as easy. I'm trying to make it use a different nozzle because I have a fuck ton of Volcanos, and they use what is basically a modified volcano that is just a smidge longer, and almost every part on this thing needs to be redone to make it work

    Luckily I have a 3d printer for that, I guess. But it's ridiculous. The regular volcanos are 21mm, these Sovol versions are about 23.5mm

    So, 2.5mm longer. But the thing that measures the bed is about 1.5mm above the nozzle, so if I swap it with a volcano then I'm 1mm behind it. So cool, new bracket to swap that, but THEN the fan shroud to direct air at the part is ALSO going to be .5mm to low, and so I need to redo that, but by doing that it is a little bit off where it should be blowing and it's throwing it at the heating block instead of the part, and fuck man

    I didn't realize they designed this entire thing to NOT be modded. I would have just got a fucking Bambu if I knew that, the whole point was I could fuck with this. And no one else makes shit for Sovol so I have to go through them, and they have... interesting pricing models. So I have a new extruder altogether that I'm taking apart and going to just design a whole new one to use my nozzles. Dumb design.

    Can't just buy a new heatblock, you need to get a whole hotend - so block, heater cartridge, thermistor, heatbreak, and nozzle. And they put this fucking paste in there so I can't take the thermistor or cartridge out with any ease, that's 30 dollars. Or you can get the whole extrudor with the direct driver AND that heatblock for like 50, but you still can't get any of it to come apart

    Partsbuilt has individual parts I found but they're expensive. I think I can get bits swapped around and make this work with generic shit though
