Is it possible for me to use songs as the background music to a map im making?
Or is it against copyright laws etc.

I have seen Linkin Park used with run kitty run maps but the songs are sped up.
Is it possible yo use unaltered songs?

Out of curiosity as i might wanna use song in my map i am making.

You're redistributing something that 1. has a clear copyright notice, and 2. no one pays for it but still gets it.

Still doesn't count. You must have a clear statement from the author that you are allowed to distribute there music for free and if the music can be bought in a shop then I'm very positive that you don't have that.

but still, its not as though your trying to re-sell the music or claim it is your own work, it's not like people go to jail for playing music in public or letting a friend borrow your iPod, as long as you arn't actully suppling the masses with forged cd's for personal profit, you really dont have a problem

You're not just playing the song here though...
The song is a part of your map so you're obviously redistributing it, at least in a way - no, this is not legal unless you do have the permission/statement mentioned above.
And, for the record, making the songs faster like in run kitty run does not make it right either.

yes im sure u can use it in anyway u like unless u give yourself the credits for the song and such.
in run kitty run if they alterd the song in any way im pretty damn sure that is illegal.
but yea u can use the song in your map. it just takes up a shit load of space.
