Lightning Angles

IS there a way to make lightning effects move on an angle, i dont know if this works when creating them i think it does because iv made a lightning tornado that had lightning effects on angles but moving them i cant seem to do this, is it possible to do or?

Explain better, do you want it to bend 90 degrees somewhere or do you want it to 'arc'.
In any case I think creating lightning effects between dummies, moving the dummies, would be the easiest way but I don't really know, haven't worked much with them.

I want it to not bend and not arc but kind of just a straight up and down 90 degrees like just like a pole that has 1 end bolted to the ground but its on a 90 degree angle.
