'new' attatch method.

Actually it exists inside the caster system for a long time, see the function GetCSData and SetCSData.

> please translate
Without any modifications it allows you to attach stuff using SetData(<some handle>, <some integer>) and get it using GetData(somehandle).
That's not all though...simply adding this line somewhere below
//! runtextmacro DataDeclare("Number","real")
will allow you to use SetNumber(<some handle>, <some real>)

I'm a JASS noob, so I have no clue WTF that whole trigger means >.<
Isn't it easier just to attach using abilities?

The trigger uses some of JNGPs features to ease the coding a little. What a textmacro does, is every time the parser meets a
JASS:
//! runtextmacro name parameter 1 parameter 2
it dublicates everthing from
JASS:
//! textmacro name parameter 1, parameter 2
to
JASS:
//! endtextmacro
, and replaces the keywords with the ones specified in the runtextmacro declaretion, example:
JASS:
//! textmacro Kill takes NAME, OBJECT
function CustomKill$NAME$ takes $OBJECT$ object returns nothing
    call Kill$NAME$(object)
endfunction
//! endtextmacro
//! runtextmacro Kill("Unit","unit")
//! runtextmacro Kill("Destructable","destructable")
This is what happens when the code gets parsed:
JASS:
//textmacro instance: Kill("Unit","unit")
function CustomKillUnit takes unit object returns nothing
    call KillUnit(object)
endfunction
//end of: Kill("Unit","unit")
//textmacro instance: Kill("Destructable","destructable")
function CustomKillDestructable takes destructable object returns nothing
    call KillDestructable(object)
endfunction
//end of: Kill("Destructable","destructable")
So the parser converted the whole thing, leaving us with two functions even though we only coded one.

And the storage method is only single value storage, which is fine if your using structs.

You people with handle wars are just trying too hard
to fix WE handicaps.

It simply is unfixsable, you can invent million systems and none of them
would be the best/complete/easy-to-use.

They will all have the same flow the now existing systems have.
They are too big or complicated to use (in most cases both)
and it really really is not worth the trouble learning them.

The only real use these systems have is exchange of code between
experienced JASS coders who use the same system
but do not need exchange any more because by the time
they learn the system they become good enough to make
some personal system that is smaller and better suited to their needs

Have you been modding another game during 2006-2007 ?

Ehm, no?

This is a part-time hobby not a job ffs

EDIT:
Ok I am intrigued, what IS this all about?

    News portal has been retired. Main page of site goes to Headline News forum now
  • The Helper The Helper:
    I am working on getting access to the old news portal under a different URL for those that would rather use that for news before we get a different news view.
  • Ghan Ghan:
    Easily done
    +1
  • The Helper The Helper:
    https://www.thehelper.net/pages/news/ is a link to the old news portal - i will integrate it into the interface somewhere when i figure it out
  • Ghan Ghan:
    Need to try something
  • Ghan Ghan:
    Hopefully this won't cause problems.
  • Ghan Ghan:
    Hmm
  • Ghan Ghan:
    I have converted the Headline News forum to an Article type forum. It will now show the top 20 threads with more detail of each thread.
  • Ghan Ghan:
    See how we like that.
  • The Helper The Helper:
    I do not see a way to go past the 1st page of posts on the forum though
  • The Helper The Helper:
    It is OK though for the main page to open up on the forum in the view it was before. As long as the portal has its own URL so it can be viewed that way I do want to try it as a regular forum view for a while
  • Ghan Ghan:
    Yeah I'm not sure what the deal is with the pagination.
  • Ghan Ghan:
    It SHOULD be there so I think it might just be an artifact of having an older style.
  • Ghan Ghan:
    I switched it to a "Standard" article forum. This will show the thread list like normal, but the threads themselves will have the first post set up above the rest of the "comments"
  • The Helper The Helper:
    I don't really get that article forum but I think it is because I have never really seen it used on a multi post thread
  • Ghan Ghan:
    RpNation makes more use of it right now as an example: https://www.rpnation.com/news/

    I will have to get used to this.
