[Ideas] 300 Map

Hello, since last I watched the movie 300 I got really inspired to create a map about 300. Now, I need ideas to make this a fun and interesting map, not just braindead mass killing. Any ideas involving anything about the map that I consider good will be rewarded with +rep. The map will be a defense map in which you control a single Spartan warrior.

I thought about some things myself already:
Some kind of killing bar, like a bar that when gets full will allow you to use a special ability, you gain 10% of the bar per kill and the bar goes down 25% per 4 sec without killing or something.

A falanx ability, which reduces damage taken by 10% for each unit with falanx active in 300 range of the unit.


Sorry for sloppy english, I was tired as hell when I wrote this.

Uhm..

Anyway, if you do a 300 map (I haven't seen any good so far) you should include all those special guys, like the fire throwers, guys with white masks and that big buffalo-thingy that runs towards them. You shouldn't be able to kill it with one spear throw though. :> You could use Xerxes, or however your spell his name, as the final boss too with some awesome special effects and devastating abilities. You get the picture. But most importantly, throw in alot of those special guys, it makes it much funnier that way, especially if they come when you least expect it.

well make then have a defence ability that make then unable to move but blocks all attack for the defended angle so if the gather up they can fully protect them selves

You just need a proper hack and slash gameplay style where you keep spamming your abilities alla time.

Good ideas. I think the buffalo thingy you mean is a rhino (?)

Yeah, I could make the falanx protect all damage, so for example when the rhino comes it charges and you need to gather up in a falanx :) +rep to you both.

Viikuna: Yeah, I was thinking that, but I want to add some extra things to make it hard and not boring in the length.

gotta be done right or get boring or too easy people tend to forget balance and think owning horde of mob effortless makes a good map

Yeah, couldn't remember what those silly creatures were called. ^^,

And I agree that Gtams idea would be very neat. Toss in some knockbacks there too to make it harder. Like when the rhino charges, he could knock back all players nearby.

Several week after the 300 shwotimes, me and my fren play 2 type of 300 game.

One is like a solo hero type where 1 player play 1 unit.

The other map I play is more on stratergy type where 1 player control more than 1 unit (no hero). But the total of the unit from all player is 300

You could add a timed quest (or something) where you have to stop the guy who betrays the spartans (forgot his name, the guy tells them bout the little path).

Maybe a more click based attack system?

It would get pretty boring if all you do is right click once to attack a unit until it dies.

I don't want to make an RPG, takes way to much time, I would get bored.

You control 1 hero each.

By "click -based attack system" I meant a diablo-esque attack system.

Basically each right click corresponds to ONE attack. So you have to keep clicking to keep attacking. This also gives you other tactical options like "I don't want to attack, I want to attack then block " and so on using different clicks (left and right click). I know that the makers of ___________(forget the name now) made a stamina system which is something like:

You attack,
Your stamina depletes,
it slowly regenerates.
You CAN attack again, but the more stamina you have for your second attack effects how much damage you do.
So on.

If you want a minigame I vote for a God of War style minigame.

For those who don't know what that is: It's a finishing minigame meant for bosses and tough baddies and the like. When it starts it goes into slow motion and shows your character doing these awesome things (like spiking a hydras head to the ship). To make your character do these things you have to tap the appropriate button at the appropriate time. The button you need to press flashes on the screen for a sec or two giving the players time to tap it.

There is also another kind of minigame where you need to rapidly tap a button to do something, like open a chest, pull a minotaur's head off, wrench open a door, etc.

LOTS OF FUN! :p
