Well, I have pondered about these questions for a millennium yet I cannot figure out the answers, so I hope you guys can help me with these...

I'm sure many people would like to have these questions answered, but I cannot find a tutorial or thread asking these, so I thought it would be better for me to ask.

Some questions are a little off-topic, but I dunno where to post, so there:

1) How do we get the latest Warcraft III listfiles without downloading it from other people? (Getting it myself)

2) How is it that people know all the stuffs like JASS before a tutorial is actually posted? I mean, well, many people learn them from tuts, but what about the people who wrote tuts? They don't go around randomly typing stuff, do they?

3) Lastly, the most off-topic one: How to change the text written below our name in this website like the Welcome to the Jungle, Baby!

Moderators pls feel free to move this thread to wherever you feel is appropriate for this post, thanks. :banghead::banghead:

Much of it is available by making a normal GUI trigger in the editor and then choosing Edit > Convert to custom script. The rest is documented in common.j (for natives) and Blizzard.j (for GUI equivalencies), found by decompressing the game's data MPQ files. The rest is from experimentation and user insight.

3) Lastly, the most off-topic one: How to change the text written below our name in this website like the Welcome to the Jungle, Baby!
I believe that ability is bestowed upon having earned a certain amount of rep (100, IIRC).

Well, they are those files needed for MPQs like MPQ Browser on Magos' Model Editor to be able to look at the things in the files like War3Patch.mpq without looking at gibberish.

Wow, you mean they just experimented with it??? God, that's awesome lol, they waste so much time to learn and we just look at tutorials, they're cool people huh? The people who write tuts i mean. +Rep though, for answering this

Nothing beats learning what the code does for yourself. I learned some VB6 and C++ from the same teacher. For each class she told me to figure it out. I had a text book available, but I'm one of those people who tinkers instead of reading the manual (if you get what I mean). If I run into an issue, THEN I consult the manual. <(o_- )> Usually the people answering the questions on these forums are the same kind of people.

B. If 24 hours have passed, you were the last one to post, and your question has not been answered, you may bump your thread. But the 24 hour limit will be enforced, so be careful.

I took those classes in high school, and they were only introductory. I too have no idea what the listfiles are. <( >_<)>

listfile is hashindex of content for MPQ archive.

listfiles have only one use - deprotection, and this is not allowed by forum rules (sadly).

standart archives have listfiles included.

No, listfiles are also used for other things like getting out icons or models you want in the War3Patch.mpq, not only for deprotection. Deprotection suck anyway.. I just want to be able to get the latest War3 Listfiles so that I can access War3Patch.mpq easily to get the things I want, hell no for deprotection...

How come you're so into recipes lately? Never saw this much interest in this topic in the old days of TH.net

Hmm, how do I change my signature?
  • tom_mai78101 tom_mai78101:
Signatures can be edit in your account profile. As for the old stuffs, I'm thinking it's because Blizzard is now under Microsoft, and because of Microsoft Xbox going the way it is, it's dreadful.
  • The Helper The Helper:
I am not big on the recipes I am just promoting them - I use the site as a practice place promoting stuff

@tom_mai78101 I must be blind. If I go on my profile I don't see any area to edit the signature; If I go to account details (settings) I don't see any signature area either.
  • The Helper The Helper:
You can get there if you click the bell icon (alerts) and choose preferences from the bottom, signature will be in the menu on the left there https://www.thehelper.net/account/preferences

Crazy how much 3d printing has come in the last few years. Sad that it's not as easily modifiable though
  • Varine Varine:
I bought an Ender 3 during the pandemic and tinkered with it all the time. Just bought a Sovol, not as easy. I'm trying to make it use a different nozzle because I have a fuck ton of Volcanos, and they use what is basically a modified volcano that is just a smidge longer, and almost every part on this thing needs to be redone to make it work
  • Varine Varine:
Luckily I have a 3d printer for that, I guess. But it's ridiculous. The regular volcanos are 21mm, these Sovol versions are about 23.5mm
  • Varine Varine:
So, 2.5mm longer. But the thing that measures the bed is about 1.5mm above the nozzle, so if I swap it with a volcano then I'm 1mm behind it. So cool, new bracket to swap that, but THEN the fan shroud to direct air at the part is ALSO going to be .5mm to low, and so I need to redo that, but by doing that it is a little bit off where it should be blowing and it's throwing it at the heating block instead of the part, and fuck man
  • Varine Varine:
I didn't realize they designed this entire thing to NOT be modded. I would have just got a fucking Bambu if I knew that, the whole point was I could fuck with this. And no one else makes shit for Sovol so I have to go through them, and they have... interesting pricing models. So I have a new extruder altogether that I'm taking apart and going to just design a whole new one to use my nozzles. Dumb design.
  • Varine Varine:
Can't just buy a new heatblock, you need to get a whole hotend - so block, heater cartridge, thermistor, heatbreak, and nozzle. And they put this fucking paste in there so I can't take the thermistor or cartridge out with any ease, that's 30 dollars. Or you can get the whole extrudor with the direct driver AND that heatblock for like 50, but you still can't get any of it to come apart
  • Varine Varine:
Partsbuilt has individual parts I found but they're expensive. I think I can get bits swapped around and make this work with generic shit though
