Hey guys, I am getting a new computer, and I need help finding one for the best price with the best specs. Since I don't know much about computer specs/prices, I am asking you. I have a few requirements:

  • The price range must be 1100$ - 1500$, 800€ - 1100€ or 680£ - 910€.
  • It must be able to run StarCraft II on Ultra settings.
  • It must NOT HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH APPLE EVER. No Mac anything business.
  • It must be a laptop.

An example of this could be this: http://www.purepconline.com/v/laptops/blissm.asp

Thanks guys!

Laptop, or Desktop?

If Desktop: Is building one an option?

If Laptop: Does battery life matter?

to run sc2 on ultra.. pretty much only the desktop replacements can do that, and they run short on battery.. so "as much as possible" would translate into about 2 hours

I would suggest this if you don't mind the matte screen

Sorry guys, both of your suggestions are above the price of my example. The MSI one costs 9000 danish crowns, which is above the max by 1k crowns, and with the stuff I need, slapshot's also costs more.

On a second look, you are indeed right. However, three things -- can it be shipped to Denmark, what does it look like, and the site seems kinda... shady. Do you know anyone who purchased anything from it?

from their FAQ they seem to ship internationally, not sure about Denmark specifically, but I would assume so
Do you accept International Orders and how is the warranty handled?
Xotic PC gladly accepts International Orders. For any International Order (Outside of US/Canada/PR/GU) we require payment via Bank Wire, Check or Money Order. For any Warranty the customer is responsible for shipping both ways to our service center in the US.

Xotic PC provides International Shipping via UPS and USPS. UPS is our recommended option for International Customers. USPS provides slower transit times and if the package is lost or damaged the USPS claim process can take much more time then UPS.

as far as the site it's rated pretty highly on resellerratings (5/5 stars), and also gets an A+ from BBB, and also from google I wouldn't be too worried

the laptop itself is a sager np8130

p.s. - any reason why spoiler tags aren't working?

After thinking a bit, this seems like a good choice. I will ask some of my friends, as well, though -- it's a lot of money to spend, you know.
Are you sure this can run SC2 on Ultra+?

it should be able to run the campaign/meele on ultra with 20+ fps, beyond that it depends on the game

20 fps isn't quite enough for me, unfortunately. The example I showed can run 4v4 (which is quite hard) in High with 30+ fps. I need something along those lines.

Thanks for the link. I'm looking at the TLX model right now; do you think it can run SC2 on ultra?

Most likely. It also has a pretty good battery life because it switches between Intel integrated graphics and GeForce GT 425M.

I have no idea if they ship outside the US though, all PCs they make are built by hand.

Hmm, how do I change my signature?
  • tom_mai78101 tom_mai78101:
Signatures can be edit in your account profile. As for the old stuffs, I'm thinking it's because Blizzard is now under Microsoft, and because of Microsoft Xbox going the way it is, it's dreadful.

@tom_mai78101 I must be blind. If I go on my profile I don't see any area to edit the signature; If I go to account details (settings) I don't see any signature area either.
  • The Helper The Helper:
You can get there if you click the bell icon (alerts) and choose preferences from the bottom, signature will be in the menu on the left there https://www.thehelper.net/account/preferences

Crazy how much 3d printing has come in the last few years. Sad that it's not as easily modifiable though
  • Varine Varine:
I bought an Ender 3 during the pandemic and tinkered with it all the time. Just bought a Sovol, not as easy. I'm trying to make it use a different nozzle because I have a fuck ton of Volcanos, and they use what is basically a modified volcano that is just a smidge longer, and almost every part on this thing needs to be redone to make it work
  • Varine Varine:
Luckily I have a 3d printer for that, I guess. But it's ridiculous. The regular volcanos are 21mm, these Sovol versions are about 23.5mm
  • Varine Varine:
So, 2.5mm longer. But the thing that measures the bed is about 1.5mm above the nozzle, so if I swap it with a volcano then I'm 1mm behind it. So cool, new bracket to swap that, but THEN the fan shroud to direct air at the part is ALSO going to be .5mm to low, and so I need to redo that, but by doing that it is a little bit off where it should be blowing and it's throwing it at the heating block instead of the part, and fuck man
  • Varine Varine:
I didn't realize they designed this entire thing to NOT be modded. I would have just got a fucking Bambu if I knew that, the whole point was I could fuck with this. And no one else makes shit for Sovol so I have to go through them, and they have... interesting pricing models. So I have a new extruder altogether that I'm taking apart and going to just design a whole new one to use my nozzles. Dumb design.
  • Varine Varine:
Can't just buy a new heatblock, you need to get a whole hotend - so block, heater cartridge, thermistor, heatbreak, and nozzle. And they put this fucking paste in there so I can't take the thermistor or cartridge out with any ease, that's 30 dollars. Or you can get the whole extrudor with the direct driver AND that heatblock for like 50, but you still can't get any of it to come apart
  • Varine Varine:
Partsbuilt has individual parts I found but they're expensive. I think I can get bits swapped around and make this work with generic shit though
