Fishing like in Empire Earth

i need help with fishing in my empire earth map... they should give the players GOLD, is it possible, to use trees??? i think this would be the best, because they will go to the next fish all the time... i tried a goldmine, but then the unit disappears, when it goes fishing... like in a mine... and it wont go to the next fish... if it is possible to do with trees it will be the best...

well . . . i am sorta confused. I mean you want to go "fishing"

Id say make an ability, and use some triggers. I mean i dont exatly know what you want, like does the ammount of gold vary (random) Is there a chance you wont catch anything. Is there a time you wait

Id say, make an ability, and is like a click ability. make it like so:

(make a trigger that takes a chance, and makes it that every time the other trigger is activated, that it randomly chooses if something is caught. if so set a variable (random catch) = true)

e:
a unit begins casting ability
c:
ability being cast = to fishing
(make it check to see if unit is next to watter somehow)
if (random catch) = true
a:
set cost = a random integer between 5-25
set gold of owner of casting unit = to gold of owner of casting unit + cost

Yea, I think the gold gain ability is rigged to disappear...but then again it works for Undead. Maybe you should use an Undead gold mine to start off, it even has a select few spots where you could have people "fishing". You'd just to make it only be buildable on a shallow or something and call it a "fishing spot" and give it NO model.

Rinpun: good idea but i dont think it would auto-go to the next one

maybe you could have the fish be a unit, hostile to the fisherman, but not have any attack. It would have, say, 25 hp.
Fisherman does 1 damage to it every time they attack it (w/ projectile of ensnare maybe)
When the fish dies, the fisherman should move on to the next one, since it is a natural enemy.
Also, to get gold

Event: Unit is attacked
Condition: Unit type of (attacked unit) = Fish
Action: Set (Owner of (attacking unit)) gold to (Owner of (attacking unit)) gold + 10

the "10" can be replaced with however much gold u want

if my noob idea doesn't work, go with rinpuns haha

Ah well you might be able to make it do that. Just make at trigger that picks all of the "fish spots" and if one is less than or equal to x distance then order the unit that was fishing to right-click it.

You could try just usinf a tree with a "fish" model, and then have a trigger give gold whenever you attack it, and remove lumber maybe to counter him getting lumber from it. something like that?

Gave up on reading b/c Im lazy. But you could trigger it, just use a unit using the fish model with X life. When you want to go fishing you 'right click' the fish, it picks all 'fishing boats' in the selection of the 'triggering player' and orders them to ATTACK the fish.

When the 'fish' take damage, it adds 1 to the CUSTOM VALUE of the 'fishing boat'. If the custom value equal to X order it to right-click to 'fishing dock'. When a unit comes within 300 of 'fishing dock' use a floating text and give gold equal to the CUSTOM VALUE of the fishing boat, then order it to attack nearest fish.

You would also need to deal with when the 'fish' dies. But other than that its easy.

The thing with the custom value would work, i think, but its a lot of triggering... well i can try it.. and to the other ideas, the gold must be brought to the harbour, it shouldn't give gold without bringing it back...
