[Idea] Squads

yeah i was playing dawn of war and i got the idea wouldn't it be cool if something like the squad system was in warcraft... i couldn't find one that was done so i started making one... and here is the map (note - i didn't make the terrain, obviously) :D

Features:
Heroes may be attached to squads
Squad units are trained at location of squad
A minimum of units is initially trained
Entire squad is selected at one time


Current downfalls:
One Squad may be selected at a time, i don't see a way of getting around that... :eek:
I have no clue how the heck i made the triggers work... :banghead:

So try out the test map, (i think the AI works now, but you never can be sure, it is really stupid regardless), and tell me if the idea is going somewhere or if the triggering causes glitches or something.

bugs found:
Displays no resource message to all players...
AI still sucks ass.. (fixed, accidently told it to train a unit that was impossible to train)

if it is, you have so many projects already why not concentrate on the first one?

well the first one is hitting a huge problem.... it just looks too much like dota even when i am playing it im thinking why don't i play dota?

So i am taking a break, getting some fresh ideas, and getting ready to revamp the defense of khaz modan in the summer...

When this is perfected i may use it (or something like it) for the bodyguards...
so far the selection part is the most promising.

I've actually tried making a squad/regiment based map, but the selection triggers seem to get fucked up when you play it online. Had to disable the squad selection in the end.

Well i figured out that you cannot allow automatic selection for other players units.... that may have been the problem with yours, but i am confident that i have this fixed in mine.... but as i have no reference point i could be wrong.

but maybe not in this version, cuz its just the test.

OFF TOPIC: isn't kildare the name of an irish monastary?

I've been on vacation! No just studying for those darn finals and the SAT... so my idea does serve a purpose! I'll check it out. Note: Updated version coming in a week or so, it will be unprotected!

    Signatures can be edit in your account profile. As for the old stuffs, I'm thinking it's because Blizzard is now under Microsoft, and because of Microsoft Xbox going the way it is, it's dreadful.

    Crazy how much 3d printing has come in the last few years. Sad that it's not as easily modifiable though

    I bought an Ender 3 during the pandemic and tinkered with it all the time. Just bought a Sovol, not as easy. I'm trying to make it use a different nozzle because I have a fuck ton of Volcanos, and they use what is basically a modified volcano that is just a smidge longer, and almost every part on this thing needs to be redone to make it work

    Luckily I have a 3d printer for that, I guess. But it's ridiculous. The regular volcanos are 21mm, these Sovol versions are about 23.5mm

    So, 2.5mm longer. But the thing that measures the bed is about 1.5mm above the nozzle, so if I swap it with a volcano then I'm 1mm behind it. So cool, new bracket to swap that, but THEN the fan shroud to direct air at the part is ALSO going to be .5mm to low, and so I need to redo that, but by doing that it is a little bit off where it should be blowing and it's throwing it at the heating block instead of the part, and fuck man

    I didn't realize they designed this entire thing to NOT be modded. I would have just got a fucking Bambu if I knew that, the whole point was I could fuck with this. And no one else makes shit for Sovol so I have to go through them, and they have... interesting pricing models. So I have a new extruder altogether that I'm taking apart and going to just design a whole new one to use my nozzles. Dumb design.

    Can't just buy a new heatblock, you need to get a whole hotend - so block, heater cartridge, thermistor, heatbreak, and nozzle. And they put this fucking paste in there so I can't take the thermistor or cartridge out with any ease, that's 30 dollars. Or you can get the whole extrudor with the direct driver AND that heatblock for like 50, but you still can't get any of it to come apart

    Partsbuilt has individual parts I found but they're expensive. I think I can get bits swapped around and make this work with generic shit though
