Map could not be opened in WE

every time i try to open my map in WE it says "map file could not be opened"
its seems that the map has been corrupted
good things is i made backup files but i dont want this to happen again...

why do this things happen??

how do i prevent it from happening in the future?

the only thing i can think of is that you protected your map, thereby corrupting in from opening in World Editor ONLY which will hinder the progress of map makers BUT doesnt allow ppl to steal ur map

It's either what the above poster said.. or you could try this:

If you open your map and it's just a blank map, just go to File -> Open and then select your map, then it should work.

(Sorry if this is no help, just throwing out some solutions other than the one stated above.)
