Mass soul burn

Hi, I want to make an ability that makes a bunch of units get soulburned, I believe I'll need a dummy unit... But I'm not to sure how to trigger this...

How are you using targetting? Pick all units, add them to a group. Then cycle through them creating a dummy & ordering it to cast. Remove the dummies, remove the units from the groups, destroy the groups.
 
Many dummy units.
Starts the effect of ability
Condition - Ability == MassSoulBurn
Events
-Pick Every Unit within X range matching ((Owner of (Matching Unit)) == to (Enemy of (Owner of Matching Unit))
Create DUMMYUNIT at (Position of (Picked Unit))
Give SOULBURN to (Lastcreatedunit)
Order (lastcreatedunit) to "soulburn" (Picked Unit)


Make sure the dummy units have mana, negative HP reg or a trigger that removes it after X seconds
This trigger contains MANY leaks, points and a unit group.
 
I'm gonna be basing this off blizzard so that might change the first action...

And how do I remove the leaks?
 
Create a unit group, set a temppoint variable then remove it by using "call RemoveLocation(udg_TempPoint)"
udg_ represents GUI variables.
use something along the lines of "call DestroyGroup(udg_TempGroup)" to fix the group, if that doesn't work someone else should respond with the correct line.

Edit: Use the "custom script" line to add these.
 
Could you give me the line for the unit group, +rep btw

set TempGroup = Every Unit within (X) range matching ((Owner of (Matching Unit) is an enemy of (Owner of (Triggering Unit)))
 
Base it off of something else, like a stomp or channel.
Edit: X range is for you to decide, change it to whatever.
 
Why should I base it off stomp? I want the area of effect to be chosen by the player..

set TempPoint = Target Point of (Ability being Cast)
set TempGroup = Every Unit within (X) of TempPoint matching ((Owner of (Matching Unit) is an enemy of (Owner of (Triggering Unit)))

Here's an example of my mass ensnare ability. Basically allows me to AoE Ensnare instead of just a single unit.

Trigger:
  • Events
    • Unit - A unit Begins casting an ability
    • Conditions
      • (Ability being cast) Equal to Ensnare
    • Actions
      • Set Caster = (Casting unit)
      • Set TempPoint = (Target point of ability being cast)
      • If (All Conditions are True) then do (Then Actions) else do (Else Actions)
        • If - Conditions
          • (Level of Ensnare for Caster) Equal to 1
        • Then - Actions
          • Unit Group - Pick every unit in (Units within 200.00 of TempPoint) and do (Actions)

              • Unit - Create 1 Dummy for (Owner of Caster) at (Position of (Picked unit)) facing Default building facing degrees
              • Unit - Set level of Ensnare (Dummy) for (Last created unit) to (Level of Ensnare for Caster)

              • Unit - Add a 1.00 second Generic expiration timer to (Last created unit)

Instead of Ensnare, just replace it with Soul Burn and change the triggers where needed.

Edit: Archideas, instead of doing 200, then 275, then 350, you could've used math with
Pick, Bleh bleh within range of (125+(75*(Level of (Ability being Cast))). Just a suggestion for future ones, though.

Unit - Order (last created unit) to "soulburn" (Picked Unit)
You have leaks, btw.
The quotes is the Order of the ability, specifically the field "Text - Order String - Use/Turn on"
