No, they already said that the models won't be compatible, because of the new game engine and several other add-ons to the game.

To steer the topic back on course, there is such a thing as anti-drophack, which will prevent you from being drophacked. Because I do not use it, I do not know the details of this tool. But when\if blizzard does something about this, they may detect anti-drophack as a hack and get you banned, so there is some risk.

At the time, it is safe to use it though.

This is found in the hacks readme, so the solution is simple. Run this hack, just don't use it. They other player lost valueble time trying to crash you.
