The Royal Navy has revealed details of a new air defence system capable of destroying enemy missiles travelling at supersonic speeds. Sea Ceptor missiles fired from Navy warships will reach speeds of up to Mach 3 and can protect an area of around 500 sq miles over land or sea. The £483 million contract to develop the cutting-edge missile defence system has been awarded to MBDA (UK).

The Ministry of Defence said the five-year project would sustain around 500 jobs in MBDA and its supply chain in facilities across the UK including at Stevenage in Hertfordshire, Filton in South Gloucestershire and Lostock in Bolton.

There's no security. If someone makes something then another one will find a way around it.

If scientists were real scientists they would ask themselves "Why do people kill each other?", "What makes war?", etc.
They would not be building weapons nor terraforming other planets nor smashing particles nor amuse themselves with abstract mathematics nor
trying to communicate with extraterrestrials. There's got to be something wrong ... using their best equipment for such things, while the world
is going to $hit.

Think about it.

I think the whole mentality behind today's advancements is that military improvements will lead to better commercial products. You used to see it all the time in past wars. E.g., jeeps came about because of the need to cross rough terrain very quickly. The same goes for naval, aerial, and medicinal advancements. It's an excuse for governments to give massive amounts of jobs to engineers.
