Noob's Question bout Jass

1) How do you get Jass?
2) How long does it take to learn Jass?
3) Should I just stop now and go back to regular trigger making.....

1) Make a trigger (if you want, add the events, it's helpful at the beginning), click the Edit menu in the Trigger Editor, and find Convert to Custom Text - voila, you've got JASS (fairly ugly JASS, but it's still JASS )

2) Depends really - if you want to learn it, and make some effort, you would be able to use it in a few weeks. I spent an hour or two every few days, and I got the hang of it relatively quickly (after about 2 or 3 weeks)

3) If you want to learn JASS, have some time to spend learning it, and are willing to make an effort, then by all means, you should try and learn it, it'll be well worth if you are serious about mapmaking or just enjoy making custom-coded stuff

It took me about a month, that's the normal time, try to learn vjass instead of jass, I regret learning jass which probaby wasted my time.

Do you even know what you're talking about?

1) Learning 'normal' JASS is absolutely essential - vJASS means nothing if you can't use standard JASS syntax/functionality, so you would, in fact, be wasting your time just learning vJASS without learning JASS
2) vJASS isn't a totally new language with regard to JASS. In fact, it's just JASS with fancy syntax, any vJASS code will, when saving your map, be parsed into 'normal' JASS script.

But, having said that, learning vJASS at some stage is highly recommended, it does make coding alot easier

There is old Jass, and then there is some extra things, which vJass adds to Jass. So there is 95% old Jass ( you still need old Jass too ) , and 5% vJass extra features, which make coding a lot of easier.

Can i have a small example? I made a trigger...

Event - Periodic Timer Every 20 seconds
Action - Create 1 footman for player red center of map

But I couldnt find the thing to turn it into jass or w/e?
