Pedestal Pack - Useful for terrainers

I have seen a lot of terrainers around here and so, I thought I tell you about my pedestal model pack as well, since it may be useful in enchancing your map. Already many of you might say "no thanks, I don't use custom models" but I find that it has its own advantages.

First of all, it uses no custom skins. Already a lot of size is reduced. But wait, we're not done. Each model is around 1.5 KB in size. You realize how small that is?! And besides, you don't need to use all the pedestals. There are up to 15 different types, from Ashenvale to Sunken Ruins, so not all terrain types are included (may improve in the future if the pack is a success ;)) but atleast a pedestal may match your map style.

I'd like to thank Jacek for giving me this idea. He needed one of the pedestals for his map called Hexagon. So, without any further chit-chat, here is a screenshot and the attached pack. Enjoy and give feedback!

Aight.

Comments --

Brilliant, I think these will make some awesome stairs and stuff. Not sure what a pedestal would be useful for just as a pedestal :p

Suggestions --

Reduce the size of that screenshot. It doesn't need to be that big to show off the awesomeness of these pedestals.

UV Wrapping on the Demon Pedestal could be improved. The vertices wrap too much together and form the weird over-stretchedness of the middle.

Rocky Outland Pedestal? Might be asking for too much, but it would be cool if it even floats just a little above the ground and had a bit of a stalagmite on the end.

Yar, very useful, thanks. Too bad they don't have a bottom. =P

A more white one would be nice. Maybe with a skin from a white column or wall.
That demon one looks freaky. xD

Oh, and since you made them, can we use some for RotHE?

Well... Adding a bottom didn't seem necessary to me but if you need it, I can. I may make a marble one too, and even an outland. I mean, why not?

And of course we can use them in RotHE. Small, efficient, good-looking, what else do you want?

It probably adds another .5 kb or so to add a bottom, but like I or 2-P would care. That'd only make it 2 kb :p

Problem with making a bottom would be that I would have to mirror the whole model on the Z axis, which would practically double it. Why would I do that? Because the wrapping on the edges screams for that. :)

I'll see if I can do that addition while keeping filesize really low. In the meantime, I replaced the image with the second pack so that you can check the newer pedestals. Who would've thought that I would make so many?

Signatures can be edit in your account profile. As for the old stuffs, I'm thinking it's because Blizzard is now under Microsoft, and because of Microsoft Xbox going the way it is, it's dreadful.

Crazy how much 3d printing has come in the last few years. Sad that it's not as easily modifiable though
  • Varine Varine:
I bought an Ender 3 during the pandemic and tinkered with it all the time. Just bought a Sovol, not as easy. I'm trying to make it use a different nozzle because I have a fuck ton of Volcanos, and they use what is basically a modified volcano that is just a smidge longer, and almost every part on this thing needs to be redone to make it work
  • Varine Varine:
Luckily I have a 3d printer for that, I guess. But it's ridiculous. The regular volcanos are 21mm, these Sovol versions are about 23.5mm
  • Varine Varine:
So, 2.5mm longer. But the thing that measures the bed is about 1.5mm above the nozzle, so if I swap it with a volcano then I'm 1mm behind it. So cool, new bracket to swap that, but THEN the fan shroud to direct air at the part is ALSO going to be .5mm to low, and so I need to redo that, but by doing that it is a little bit off where it should be blowing and it's throwing it at the heating block instead of the part, and fuck man
  • Varine Varine:
I didn't realize they designed this entire thing to NOT be modded. I would have just got a fucking Bambu if I knew that, the whole point was I could fuck with this. And no one else makes shit for Sovol so I have to go through them, and they have... interesting pricing models. So I have a new extruder altogether that I'm taking apart and going to just design a whole new one to use my nozzles. Dumb design.
  • Varine Varine:
Can't just buy a new heatblock, you need to get a whole hotend - so block, heater cartridge, thermistor, heatbreak, and nozzle. And they put this fucking paste in there so I can't take the thermistor or cartridge out with any ease, that's 30 dollars. Or you can get the whole extrudor with the direct driver AND that heatblock for like 50, but you still can't get any of it to come apart
  • Varine Varine:
Partsbuilt has individual parts I found but they're expensive. I think I can get bits swapped around and make this work with generic shit though
