Questions about VJASS

so i just got new gen the other night and i wanted to test it out with some Jass spells. i tried to import a fairly easy one, but new gen said i have 15 complied errors.

for example.

Line 17609: undecleared Function GetHandled unit
and its hightlightning this line
"local unit cast= GetHandleUnit(t , "cast")"

Line 17910: Undeclared function GetHandleReal
"local real angle= GetHandleReal(t , "angle")"



Now i was told to get a Local Handle Variables system from kattana, http://www.wc3jass.com/viewtopic.php?t=224
i had a look at the system and i am pretty confused... do i just copy paste that right into the map? or do i need to change anything like raw codes. i am clueless here.

any help would be great!

edit: i had a thread on hive but i am really getting no response, i posted the entire JASS code there if u guys want to have a look.

Shove into map header. KaTTanas that is.
As an FYI, KaTTanas handle vars is very out-dated.

Ty for your replies when u say header, just copy paste above the code? do i need to change or add anything with the system.

and what is a library and how do i add to library?

also how come in the test map they dont have the system and it works? i am just trying to get a handle on how VJASS works.


if u cant be bothered to answer a tutorial would do too :thup:

Yes.

All code in library will move into map's header after complied.

also how come in the test map they dont have the system and it works
World Editor won't compile the code, Unplayable.

Ty King, i will try to copy paste the handle variable into the trigger header and hopefully it will work

The code probably is in the map header in the test map. To get to that click the map name in the left hand trigger pane and you will probably see a whole stack of code.

Also, that isn't vJASS. If you want to start learning vJASS and take advantage of all our current (more efficient/safe) methods then you should download JASS Newgen Pack. FYI, Local Handle Vars won't work when the next patch is released.

    Signatures can be edit in your account profile. As for the old stuffs, I'm thinking it's because Blizzard is now under Microsoft, and because of Microsoft Xbox going the way it is, it's dreadful.

    Crazy how much 3d printing has come in the last few years. Sad that it's not as easily modifiable though

    I bought an Ender 3 during the pandemic and tinkered with it all the time. Just bought a Sovol, not as easy. I'm trying to make it use a different nozzle because I have a fuck ton of Volcanos, and they use what is basically a modified volcano that is just a smidge longer, and almost every part on this thing needs to be redone to make it work

    Luckily I have a 3d printer for that, I guess. But it's ridiculous. The regular volcanos are 21mm, these Sovol versions are about 23.5mm

    So, 2.5mm longer. But the thing that measures the bed is about 1.5mm above the nozzle, so if I swap it with a volcano then I'm 1mm behind it. So cool, new bracket to swap that, but THEN the fan shroud to direct air at the part is ALSO going to be .5mm to low, and so I need to redo that, but by doing that it is a little bit off where it should be blowing and it's throwing it at the heating block instead of the part, and fuck man

    I didn't realize they designed this entire thing to NOT be modded. I would have just got a fucking Bambu if I knew that, the whole point was I could fuck with this. And no one else makes shit for Sovol so I have to go through them, and they have... interesting pricing models. So I have a new extruder altogether that I'm taking apart and going to just design a whole new one to use my nozzles. Dumb design.

    Can't just buy a new heatblock, you need to get a whole hotend - so block, heater cartridge, thermistor, heatbreak, and nozzle. And they put this fucking paste in there so I can't take the thermistor or cartridge out with any ease, that's 30 dollars. Or you can get the whole extrudor with the direct driver AND that heatblock for like 50, but you still can't get any of it to come apart

    Partsbuilt has individual parts I found but they're expensive. I think I can get bits swapped around and make this work with generic shit though
