I thought I would be great to have a thread dedicated to quotes, aphorisms, statements, because you'll never know when you need one.

I'll, start. When posting yours, wrap them inside tags.

Before God we are all equally wise - and equally foolish.

"When an elephant steps on a mouse's tail and you say that you will not get involved, whose side have you taken?" -- I don't remember

"There are only two things in life that are worth doing. One is what you're good at and the other is what you like to do. If you're lucky, then they ae the same thing." -- I don't know

"When an elephant steps on a mouse's tail and you say that you will not get involved, whose side have you taken?" -- I don't remember

This reminds me of one of Aesop's fables. Maybe it's from there?

Didn't realize you were a Naruto fan. :p

And now, a few of my own:

Edward Elric said:
I can't agree with you. I know if I try my hardest, I'll be rewarded. And I believe that applies to all of us. It doesn't matter who you are; if you work hard, it pays off. I know equivalent exchange is true. If it's childish to believe in it, so be it. I'd rather be considered a child than follow a doctrine of cynicism and chaos. And apathy.

Ender Wiggin said:
It's impossible to really understand somebody, what they want, what they believe, and not love them the way they love themselves.

Voltaire said:
If God did not exist, it would be necessary to invent him.

Iroh said:
In the darkest of times, hope is something you give yourself. That is the meaning of inner strength.

Maes Hughes said:
Nothing is ever completely negative.

A good sword, even if it's got cracks and rust, when it's put into the fire, always revives. No matter how big the crack is, in the core, it always has good metal.

Belsio said:
I figure you must have your own reasons. Makes no difference to me. To each his own.

Rinoa said:
There are no guarantees in the future. That's why TODAY, the time we have now, is important.

The pleasure of a dream is that it's a fantasy. If it happens it was never a dream.

News portal has been retired. Main page of site goes to Headline News forum now
  • The Helper The Helper:
I am working on getting access to the old news portal under a different URL for those that would rather use that for news before we get a different news view.
  • Ghan Ghan:
    Easily done

  • The Helper The Helper:
https://www.thehelper.net/pages/news/ is a link to the old news portal - i will integrate it into the interface somewhere when i figure it out
  • Ghan Ghan:
    Need to try something
  • Ghan Ghan:
    Hopefully this won't cause problems.
  • Ghan Ghan:
    Hmm
  • Ghan Ghan:
I have converted the Headline News forum to an Article type forum. It will now show the top 20 threads with more detail of each thread.
  • Ghan Ghan:
    See how we like that.
  • The Helper The Helper:
I do not see a way to go past the 1st page of posts on the forum though
  • The Helper The Helper:
It is OK though for the main page to open up on the forum in the view it was before. As long as the portal has its own URL so it can be viewed that way I do want to try it as a regular forum view for a while
  • Ghan Ghan:
Yeah I'm not sure what the deal is with the pagination.
  • Ghan Ghan:
It SHOULD be there so I think it might just be an artifact of having an older style.
  • Ghan Ghan:
I switched it to a "Standard" article forum. This will show the thread list like normal, but the threads themselves will have the first post set up above the rest of the "comments"
  • The Helper The Helper:
I don't really get that article forum but I think it is because I have never really seen it used on a multi post thread
  • Ghan Ghan:
RpNation makes more use of it right now as an example: https://www.rpnation.com/news/
