replace map pic with custom

how do you replace the map picture that appears with the map description when you're creating/joining/hosting a map ...
i have seen some maps with some nice custom pics and i was just wodering how you do it .....

Open up your map in WinMPQ (look for it on google or something). The file you are looking for is 'war3mapPreview'. This file can be replaced with a picture of your own. I think the only requirement is that the picture you are using to replace it must be a tga file.

Edit: I just found that the file 'war3mapPreview.tga' is by default not contained inside your map. But I believe if you add a picture with this file name into your map, then it should work fine.

Ok... sorry.

I am not sure if this thread is dead, but since my issue is similiar I figured adding it here would be ok. Feel free to move this.

I have did everything for a custom minimap image,

1) Get tools
2) Find picture, convert to .tga, and edits image size to 128 by 128 pixel
3) Save in .tga format.
4) Import into WE and call it war3mapPreview.tga
5) Save map and close WE
6) Open WE and test map, quit map and goto single player / custom game and search for map.... look at map preview... and see a

Big yellow question mark?

Actually that is what I followed to get what I have done.

As a quick tip, I have done a custom loading screen, so its not like I haven't sone something similiar. It must be something not obvious... or very obvious where I don't see it @.@ Meh, I am making another .tga and gonna try it... maybe something about the conversion. *I use adobe photoshop.*

So, I am making another image at 128 by 128. >.> gonna see what happens in like 5 min. Will reply, until then if any of you guys get any ideas letme know

No such luck, some odd reason it doesn't show up... just a yellow question mark.

Do you think alpha channels have something to do with it? I dun know how to delete / get rid of them, and sadly I really don't know much about them. If they have anything to do with .tga formats plz somebody explain so that I can get a good grasp on how to solve my problem.

No help... =.= ok, well I switched it into .blp, so do I change the custom pathing to war3mapPreview.blp ? or keep it .tga... >..< explain which and why etc... neither seem to work

    Signatures can be edit in your account profile. As for the old stuffs, I'm thinking it's because Blizzard is now under Microsoft, and because of Microsoft Xbox going the way it is, it's dreadful.

    Crazy how much 3d printing has come in the last few years. Sad that it's not as easily modifiable though

    I bought an Ender 3 during the pandemic and tinkered with it all the time. Just bought a Sovol, not as easy. I'm trying to make it use a different nozzle because I have a fuck ton of Volcanos, and they use what is basically a modified volcano that is just a smidge longer, and almost every part on this thing needs to be redone to make it work

    Luckily I have a 3d printer for that, I guess. But it's ridiculous. The regular volcanos are 21mm, these Sovol versions are about 23.5mm

    So, 2.5mm longer. But the thing that measures the bed is about 1.5mm above the nozzle, so if I swap it with a volcano then I'm 1mm behind it. So cool, new bracket to swap that, but THEN the fan shroud to direct air at the part is ALSO going to be .5mm to low, and so I need to redo that, but by doing that it is a little bit off where it should be blowing and it's throwing it at the heating block instead of the part, and fuck man

    I didn't realize they designed this entire thing to NOT be modded. I would have just got a fucking Bambu if I knew that, the whole point was I could fuck with this. And no one else makes shit for Sovol so I have to go through them, and they have... interesting pricing models. So I have a new extruder altogether that I'm taking apart and going to just design a whole new one to use my nozzles. Dumb design.

    Can't just buy a new heatblock, you need to get a whole hotend - so block, heater cartridge, thermistor, heatbreak, and nozzle. And they put this fucking paste in there so I can't take the thermistor or cartridge out with any ease, that's 30 dollars. Or you can get the whole extrudor with the direct driver AND that heatblock for like 50, but you still can't get any of it to come apart

    Partsbuilt has individual parts I found but they're expensive. I think I can get bits swapped around and make this work with generic shit though
