> Identical other than the systems.

So it's coded in the exact same manner? How can that be different, then? :p

> The one with an external system will most likely be more readable.

If that is so but they both use the exact same coding structure, then the more readable one would win.

Romek sighs

Tower A:
- Damages unit
- Calls Bob_Knockback(unit) // from RandomBobs knockback system
- Efficient
- Leakless

Tower B:
- Damages Unit
- Does knockback within the code
- Efficient
- Leakless

Which would win?

If you still don't get the idea: Do we get more points for doing things ourselves, than we do for using external systems.
Frankly, using things such as xecast or xecollider make things very, very easy to code.

> would the date be extended if blizzard doesn't fix the patch soon

"Fix" the "patch" is almost a contradiction in terms.... What is there to fix?

Hashtables are broke. (Some parts)

Edit: ROMEK! There are extra call in there :( -10000% points.

I would prefer to see some of your own code. I don't want you to drop some kind of outside system on your map and then you're done. But systems that are tailored to do a specific task (such as knockback) should be no problem.

Interesting.

You're still not answering my question.
Would I get more points for coding a knockback within the tower code, or the same as if I used an external system?

> I would prefer to see some of your own code. I don't want you to drop some kind of outside system on your map and then you're done.
So caster systems are discouraged? :p

No idea. Extra function call?? Inline makes it hard to read??

> not answering my question

It's answered already.
Where? See above.
What should you do? Make a good tower, of course! Comes with the contest description. There really isn't any more to say.

> So caster systems are discouraged?

Depends on the extent to which you use it.

When you say "adherance to theme", what do you mean? I'm a bit thrown off, also by the title "4 times the fun". Is the theme of the contest "4" then, or is the theme "towers"?

The "theme" is, to put it in simple terms, extraordinary. That is what I want to see in your tower. I want lots of creativity, but I definitely want it applicable in a TD map. So this isn't a new unit for some race. It's a tower.

> 4 times the fun

This is the 4th Tower Contest that there has been. Nothing more.

I figured out the 4 thing once I went surfing around to find how I did in the other tower contest I entered.

I guess I'm in, but we'll see just how much I can do. Working out some bugs that might result in some sloppy GUI coding :/

Ghan, do you have WEU? Because if you don't, I'll have to work on normal WE.

Don't use WEU. I highly doubt it will be supported in any contest.

Wouldnt GUIers have an disadvantage against vjassers that could have more efficiant code and get higher points for it.

Signatures can be edit in your account profile. As for the old stuffs, I'm thinking it's because Blizzard is now under Microsoft, and because of Microsoft Xbox going the way it is, it's dreadful.

Crazy how much 3d printing has come in the last few years. Sad that it's not as easily modifiable though
  • Varine Varine:
I bought an Ender 3 during the pandemic and tinkered with it all the time. Just bought a Sovol, not as easy. I'm trying to make it use a different nozzle because I have a fuck ton of Volcanos, and they use what is basically a modified volcano that is just a smidge longer, and almost every part on this thing needs to be redone to make it work
  • Varine Varine:
Luckily I have a 3d printer for that, I guess. But it's ridiculous. The regular volcanos are 21mm, these Sovol versions are about 23.5mm
  • Varine Varine:
So, 2.5mm longer. But the thing that measures the bed is about 1.5mm above the nozzle, so if I swap it with a volcano then I'm 1mm behind it. So cool, new bracket to swap that, but THEN the fan shroud to direct air at the part is ALSO going to be .5mm to low, and so I need to redo that, but by doing that it is a little bit off where it should be blowing and it's throwing it at the heating block instead of the part, and fuck man
  • Varine Varine:
I didn't realize they designed this entire thing to NOT be modded. I would have just got a fucking Bambu if I knew that, the whole point was I could fuck with this. And no one else makes shit for Sovol so I have to go through them, and they have... interesting pricing models. So I have a new extruder altogether that I'm taking apart and going to just design a whole new one to use my nozzles. Dumb design.
  • Varine Varine:
Can't just buy a new heatblock, you need to get a whole hotend - so block, heater cartridge, thermistor, heatbreak, and nozzle. And they put this fucking paste in there so I can't take the thermistor or cartridge out with any ease, that's 30 dollars. Or you can get the whole extrudor with the direct driver AND that heatblock for like 50, but you still can't get any of it to come apart
  • Varine Varine:
Partsbuilt has individual parts I found but they're expensive. I think I can get bits swapped around and make this work with generic shit though
