Your point? It uses way less...

Nowhere in either article does it say it uses less. It uses the same amount but is more efficient, here is a direct quote:

The novel generator would use about 60 percent of fuel for propulsion, according to MSU. This is a dramatic improvement over typical car engines, which use only 15 percent of fuel for forward movement. The system could also make cars 20 percent lighter, improving fuel economy even more.

Facts:
- It will make the car lighter
- It is more efficient with potential to kinetic energy conversion (15 to 60%)

What does this mean? More mileage. At present time, cars are always boasting about how great their mileage is and how they are always improving it, does it change anything? No. In the end, it uses the same amount of fuel.

Please correct me if I'm wrong.

The thing I'm worried about is this:

Müller says the engine can be adapted to run on a variety of fuels, including hydrogen.
THIS is what I'm worried about, this is what would make oil giants buy it out.

Either way, I'm hoping it -doesn't- get bought out, because this is revolutionary.

More efficient = less fuel by logical thought. In the end, you get significantly further on the same amount of fuel. Making it use less fuel.

And I don't really understand what you're arguing.....

/facepalm/

more efficient means it uses less fuel per a given distance...
dunno how to make it more clear then that

btw, innovations are sold to big oil by choice, not by force.
You act as if big oil shows up at someones doorstep with guns and takes thier schematics.
damn conspirators.

What is your definition of using less fuel then?

Then gas values plummet and the economy crumbles

Why would the economy crumble because of lower gas prices?

Just because some people depends on gas for a living :D (petrol station guys, etc. [Some countries even if I'm not wrong])

Not really. If a country is to successfully advance without needing as much fuel maybe the imports from other countries wouldn't even be necessary depending on fuel consumption.

In the event that this became mainstream it would likely cause business to build. Transport prices would go down for large companies (UPS, FedEx, etc, with large fleets) over time if they converted, meaning they could hire more. Shipping prices decrease, retail prices decrease. People sell more, more people are hired as a result, the circulation of money here is increased.

Bottom line,

This is just a worthless piece of metal that isn't going to amount to shit.

Next thread please.

No, this is an extraordinary and long overdue piece of engineering that could be highly effective and almost revolutionary in the automotive industry and possibly have a significant impact on emissions.

I do not agree. This revolutionary technology has been sitting on the shelf since 2009. Since then there has yet to surface 1 instance of verified video evidence of this device in operation, and operating within specification.
This is nothing more than an attempt to siphon funding under the umbrella of a media blitz touting unverified technology.

In order to verify technology, typically one requires funding. There is no reason the design can't work as they said, the only issue is how very exact everything needs to be in order for it to operate at all.

How come you're so into recipes lately? Never saw this much interest in this topic in the old days of TH.net

Hmm, how do I change my signature?
  • tom_mai78101 tom_mai78101:
Signatures can be edit in your account profile. As for the old stuffs, I'm thinking it's because Blizzard is now under Microsoft, and because of Microsoft Xbox going the way it is, it's dreadful.

Crazy how much 3d printing has come in the last few years. Sad that it's not as easily modifiable though
  • Varine Varine:
I bought an Ender 3 during the pandemic and tinkered with it all the time. Just bought a Sovol, not as easy. I'm trying to make it use a different nozzle because I have a fuck ton of Volcanos, and they use what is basically a modified volcano that is just a smidge longer, and almost every part on this thing needs to be redone to make it work
  • Varine Varine:
Luckily I have a 3d printer for that, I guess. But it's ridiculous. The regular volcanos are 21mm, these Sovol versions are about 23.5mm
  • Varine Varine:
So, 2.5mm longer. But the thing that measures the bed is about 1.5mm above the nozzle, so if I swap it with a volcano then I'm 1mm behind it. So cool, new bracket to swap that, but THEN the fan shroud to direct air at the part is ALSO going to be .5mm to low, and so I need to redo that, but by doing that it is a little bit off where it should be blowing and it's throwing it at the heating block instead of the part, and fuck man
  • Varine Varine:
I didn't realize they designed this entire thing to NOT be modded. I would have just got a fucking Bambu if I knew that, the whole point was I could fuck with this. And no one else makes shit for Sovol so I have to go through them, and they have... interesting pricing models. So I have a new extruder altogether that I'm taking apart and going to just design a whole new one to use my nozzles. Dumb design.
  • Varine Varine:
Can't just buy a new heatblock, you need to get a whole hotend - so block, heater cartridge, thermistor, heatbreak, and nozzle. And they put this fucking paste in there so I can't take the thermistor or cartridge out with any ease, that's 30 dollars. Or you can get the whole extrudor with the direct driver AND that heatblock for like 50, but you still can't get any of it to come apart
  • Varine Varine:
Partsbuilt has individual parts I found but they're expensive. I think I can get bits swapped around and make this work with generic shit though
  • Ghan Ghan:
Heard Houston got hit pretty bad by storms last night. Hope all is well with TH.
